The Class A regional playoff pairings were released Tuesday and Mitchell High School earned the No. 5 seed.

The Kernels are slated to travel to Sturgis to face No. 12 Rapid City Central at noon on Saturday. No. 4 Sturgis hosts No. 13 Rapid City Stevens at 10 a.m. and the winners of those two games play at 2 p.m. for a spot in the state semifinals at noon on May 25 in Sioux Falls.

Mitchell beat Rapid City Central, 4-2, on March 31. The Kernels also won all three meetings with Rapid City Stevens this season, but have not faced Sturgis this year.
