Winner/Colome skirts past Gregory County in low-scoring affair
WINNER—Jacob Beckers didn't allow an earned run as Winner/Colome was able to fend off Gregory County for a 3-1 win in prep baseball action on Thursday.
Beckers scattered five hits over seven innings, while only allowing two walks and fanning 10 Gregory County batters to pick up the win.
The Royals struck first in the fourth inning, as Oscar Pravecek drove in Phillip Jorgensen on a fielder's choice and Layton Thieman plated Jackson Kinzer on a ground ball during the next at-bat.
Gregory County tied the game in the top of the fifth on an error, but that was the extent of the damage done.
Jorgensen and Kinzer each went 2-for-3 for Winner/Colome, while Rylan Peck was 2-for-3 for Gregory County.
Coy Determan allowed two runs on four hits in four innings of work, while adding seven strikeouts on the mound for Gregory County. Aaron Sundquist didn't allow an earned run on two hits in two innings of relief.
