NORTH SIOUX CITY-The Parkston/Ethan/Tripp baseball team salvaged a doubleheader against Madison on Sunday, relying on strong pitching to come away with its first win of the season. P/E/T fell 6-0 to Madison in the first game, but ended with an 8-1 win.

Nate Doering's four-inning start was enough to earn him the win. He struck out seven and allowed an unearned run on four hits. Landon Sudbeck and Kade Bialas combined to pitch three scoreless innings to secure the win for P/E/T.

Rylan Leischner homered in the win, but P/E/T mostly capitalized off walks rather than hits. Nate Boettcher walked three times and came around to score each time. Cade Gemar, Bialas and Sudbeck all had a hit, too.

P/E/T's bats were kept quiet in the first game, though. Boettcher, Sudbeck, Gemar and Sutton Hohn each had a hit in the shutout loss. Hohn took the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) over 3 1/3 innings. Gemar allowed a trio of runs in 2 2/3 innings of work.

P/E/T (1-1) plays Dakota Valley at 6 p.m. today in Parkston.
