The pairings are set, as postseason play has arrived in South Dakota amateur baseball.

The District 4B, 5B, and 6B matchups have been finalized, with Cornbelt League champion Canova earning the top seed in the District 4B tournament, held from July 26 to Aug. 3 in Salem. while Alexandria is the top-seed in District 5B, which runs from July 25 through Aug. 2 at The Pond in Parkston. The District 6B tournament, featuring the eight Class B teams in the South Central League, will be held across the border in Wynot, Nebraska from July 25 to Aug. 3, with Crofton, Nebraska holding the top seed.

Six teams from the Cornbelt League and five teams from the Sunshine League and South Central League will advance to the Class B state tournament, which will be held Aug. 7-18 at Cadwell Park in Mitchell.

District 3B, which features the Pony Hills League teams, will open tournament play Saturday in Plankinton with four games and the bracket will be finalized later this week. An extended preview of these district tournaments will be published in The Daily Republic this week.

District 4B games finalized

The No. 8 Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks and the No. 9 Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks begin the District 4B tournament at 6 p.m. on Friday, followed by No. 7 Colman and No. 10 Lennox at 8 p.m.

Third-seeded Dell Rapids Mudcats and sixth-seeded Flandreau start Saturday’s slate at noon , followed by No. 4 Dell Rapids PBR and No. 5 Salem at 2:30 p.m. Canova faces the winner of the Gamecocks and Wood Ducks contest at 5 p.m. and No. 2 Madison plays the winner of Colman and Lennox in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.

The loser of Colman and the loser of Dell Rapids Mudcats and Flandreau play in the lone game on Sunday at 7 p.m., before semifinal play begins July 30 and consolation play is Aug. 1 and Aug. 2. The championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Aug. 3.

District 5B matchups announced

In the opening round, top-seeded Alexandria will take on No. 8 Corsica/Stickney at 6 p.m., followed by No. 2 seed Winner/Colome and No. 7 Wagner in the 8 p.m. contest. Friday's games include No. 4 Dimock/Emery and No. 5 Parkston at 6 p.m., followed by third-seeded Mount Vernon and No. 6 Platte at 8 p.m.

The tournament resumes with the semifinals on Sunday, with the Alexandria-Corsica/Stickney and Dimock/Emery-Parkston winners meeting at 5 p.m., followed by the Mount Vernon-Platte and Winner/Colome-Wagner winners taking the field at 7 p.m.

Elimination bracket games will take place on July 30, with state-qualifying round games on Aug. 1. The last-chance game and the district championship game will take place on Aug. 2, with the championship game at 8 p.m.

The high seed in each game will be the home team. Admission for the games is $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 10-18.

Bracket for District 6B is set

In District 6B, Crofton, Nebraska is the No. 1 seed, and will host Freeman in the 6 p.m. opening game on Thursday, followed by No. 4 Lesterville and No. 5 Menno at 8 p.m. Friday’s games include No. 3 Wynot against No. 6 Irene at 6 p.m., and second-seeded Tabor taking on No. 7 Scotland at 8 p.m. in the opening round.

First-round losers will play elimination games on Sunday, July 28, followed by the district semifinals on July 30. State-qualifying games will be played Aug. 1, with the last-chance game and the district championship game set for 5 and 7 p.m., respectively, on Aug. 3.
