SALEM -- Salem snapped a five-game losing streak by sweeping a Cornbelt League doubleheader against Colman on Sunday.

The Cubs scored a 6-1 win in Game 1 and then took Game 2 against the A’s, 7-4.

Salem took a 3-0 lead after the second inning in Game 1 as Landon Neugebauer drove in a pair of runs on David Novak went 3-for-3 at the plate.

Tyler Earls tossed a complete game without giving up an earned run as Colman mustered four hits.

In Game 2, Salem raced out to a 4-0 lead in the fourth as Cole Cheeseman drove in two runs and Luke Loundenburg went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Isaac Anderson, Jon Forster and Neugebauer each had RBIs.

Cory Struck picked up the win, giving up two earned runs on seven hits.

Salem (9-9, 9-7 Cornbelt) hosts the Dell Rapids Mudcats on Thursday.

Winner/Colome 7, Wagner 1

WAGNER -- JJ Farner tossed a complete-game no-hitter as Winner/Colome beat Wagner, 7-1, in Sunshine League action on Sunday.

Farner walked six batters, but fanned 17 to secure the win over the Rockets.

The Pheasants scored six of its seven runs in the final three innings, as Derek Graesser went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, while Reed Harter, Austin Calhoon, Connor Hopkins and Zach Harter each drove in a run.

Derke Kocer allowed one earned run on four hits, scattered across six innings for Wagner, while Hunter Hewitt gave up five earned runs on three hits and four walks in two innings.

Winner/Colome (13-3, 10-3 Sunshine League) hosts Mount Vernon on Thursday. Wagner (2-7) faces Dimock/Emery on Thursday in Emery.

Parkston 3, Corsica-Stickney 2

PARKSTON -- Ross Kortan allowed two earned runs on four hits in eight innings for Corsica-Stickney, which collected 12 hits, but Parkston still managed to snare a 3-2 win in Sunshine League play on Sunday.

Luke Bamberg gave the Horned Frogs a 2-1 lead on a two-run double in the second inning, but the Mudcats regained the lead in the bottom of the frame on a groundout by Dylan Mogck and an error.

Pat Harris went 2-for-3, while Billy Hamilton added an RBI for the Mudcats.

Kris Menning went 3-for-4 and Bamberg was 3-for-5, while Logan Risse added a pair of hits for Corsica-Stickney.

Parkston (13-10, 7-6 Sunshine League) travels to Canova on Tuesday. Corsica-Stickney (2-10) travels to Alexandria on Thursday.

Dimock/Emery 11, Platte 0 (7 innings)

PLATTE -- Jared Schmidt went the distance on the mound without allowing a run as Dimock/Emery toppled Platte, 11-0, on Sunday in Sunshine League action.

Schmidt gave up two hits and no walks, while striking out eight in the win for the Raptors.

Schmidt also helped his cause at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Jason Schmidt went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Drew Kitchens was 4-for-5 with an RBI and Phil Johnson was 3-for-4 and knocked in a run.

Gene Kitchens also tallied two RBIs as Dimock/Emery notched 17 hits and eight different players drove in a run.

Michael Buitenbos allowed seven earned runs on 17 hits and struck out a pair in defeat for the Killer Tomatoes.

Dimock/Emery (14-7, 6-6 Sunshine) travels to Sioux Falls on Tuesday. Platte (4-9) hosts Parkston on Thursday.

Plankinton 16, Colome 5

COLOME -- Alex Loes had a perfect day at the plate for Plankinton, going 5-for-5 with two RBIs as the Bankers raced past Colome, 16-5, in Pony Hills League play on Sunday.

Plankinton tallied 23 hits as a team, helped by three apiece from Tyler Waddle, Josh Enquist, Kyle Bruinsma and Ryan Urban.

Waddle also drove in four runs and Urban drove in three, while Enquist added a pair of RBIs. Loes also got the win on the mound, allowing five earned runs on seven hits and struck out nine.

Kory Foss was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Chaos.

Plankinton (12-1, 11-0 Pony Hills) hosts Miller/Wessington on Thursday. Colome (2-8) plays Miller/Wessington on Tuesday in Miller.

Yankton 10, Tabor 7

YANKTON -- Tabor held a commanding four-run lead heading into the seventh inning, but South Central put up eight runs in the bottom half of the inning for a South Central League win.

The Bluebirds allowed five hits and four walks in that fateful seventh frame and could never recover.

Bryce Scieszinski and Colin Muth each knocked in two runs, while Hunter Hallock went 3-for-5 with an RBI and Cam Guevara went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Austin Wise gave up two runs on seven hits across six innings, while Austin White gave up three earned runs on five hits and four walks in an inning of work.

Tabor hosts Menno on Thursday.

Canova 16, Dell Rapids Mudcats 6

DELL RAPIDS -- Canova ran its winning streak to 11 games thanks to the bat of Garrett Gassman on Sunday.

Gassman went 3-for-5 and drove in six runs, including a two-run home run -- as the Gang collected 18 hits to secure a Cornbelt League win.

Canova saw seven plays register at least two hits, while Jared Miller drove in three runs, aided by a two-run homer. Cole Gassman, Kendall Gassman and Tim Gassman each had a pair of RBIs.

Trey Krier earned the win on the mound, allowing five earned runs on nine hits in six innings, while also striking out five batters.

Canova (17-2) hosts Parkston on Tuesday.

Mount Vernon 13, Groton Locke Electric 3

MOUNT VERNON -- Mount Vernon pounded out 18 hits to blow past Groton Locke Electric, 13-3, on Saturday.

Baley Miller led the offensive outburst for the Mustangs by going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Eric Giblin was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Chase Hetland also collected three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Tate Deinert went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Deric Denning knocked in two runs.

Miller also went the distance on the mound, giving up one earned run on seven hits, striking out seven for the win.

Mount Vernon (13-3) travels to Alexandria on Tuesday.
