Ty Neugebauer’s walk-off sacrifice fly sent home Seth Muth to complete Mitchell Gold’s teener baseball doubleheader sweep of Pierre on Saturday. Mitchell won 8-7 in the second game, while it opened the twin bill with an 11-5 victory.

In Game 2, Pierre plated five runs in the first inning, but Mitchell scored in each of the final four frames. Muth, who notched the win, came in to pitch after Ethan Price recorded one out. He held Pierre to two earned runs over 4 2/3 innings.

Anders Enga and Jack Vermuelen each drove in two runs during Mitchell’s comeback, while Brandon Sparks went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs.

Mitchell used an eight-run second inning in the first game to jump out to an insurmountable 10-0 lead. Neugebauer, Jace Larson and Brock Sparks all singled in the second, while Mitchell also drew two walks and was hit by a pair of pitches.

Larson finished with two hits and two RBIs at the plate. Neugebauer also added a pair of hits for Mitchell, which recorded six in the win. Landon Waddell’s four-inning start, which he allowed two unearned runs, gave him the win.

Mitchell (14-5-1) travels to Harrisburg today.
