AVON - The Mitchell Christian girls basketball team had a poor shooting night and the Avon Pirates took advantage Tuesday, dominating for a home victory 52-15 at Avon.
Lauren Sees and 15 points, four assists and three steals for the Pirates, who improved to 7-3 with the victory. Kacie Mudder had 11 points and Heidi Cap had 10 rebounds.
Emily Reynen had six points and eight rebounds for Mitchell Christian.
"Tonight was a tough game for us," said Mitchell Christian girls basketball coach Jackie Van Laecken. "Avon is a good and well disciplined team. Coach (Brad) Poppe and his team did a great job taking us out of our game."
The Pirates shot 23-of-54 from the field in the win and were 4-of-7 at the free throw line. Mitchell Christian shot 6-of-29 on field goals and were 1-of-2 at the free throw line in the game.

Avon won the junior varsity game 37-21.
Avon plays at Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Thursday in Lake Andes. Mitchell Christian (4-7) plays at Tripp-Delmont/Armour on Thursday in Tripp.
