WHITE LAKE - In a back-and-forth affair, the Armour Jayhawks secured the last state tournament spot in District 3B over the Miller Outlaws Wednesday in White Lake, winning 8-7.
The No. 4 (Miller) and No. 5 (Armour) finishers in the Pony Hills League, the two teams split the regular season series but Miller pounded Armour in the first round of the tournament 17-6 in seven innings.
Mick Hanan had a four-hit night for Armour to lead the way, tallying three singles and a double. Drue Soukup added three singles, Nate Spawn singled and doubled and Cameron Hinkley singled twice for the Jayhawks. Jerad Hermanek belted a solo home run to help in the cause for the Armour.
Soukup struck out eight and gave up three hits in five innings of work as the Armour starter. Tyler Payer threw the final four innings to secure the win.
For Miller, seven different Outlaw players had hits.

Armour, who is 7-10 in games this year against Pony Hills opponents, will advance to the Class B state tournament, which begins Aug. 3 at Cadwell Park. Miller's season ends at 10-11.
