Area wrestling roundup: Trojans earn six individual champions at Madison tourney

Parkston placed high at the Madison tournament.

MADISON -- Parkston notched six first-place finishes at the Madison round robin tournament on Thursday.

Parkston’s Gavin Braun earned a 17-2 technical fall win over Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Turner Gordon to capture the 106-pound title. The Trojans also earned a title at 110 pounds, as Kaden Holzbauer pinned Tiospa Zina’s Zachary Flute.

Landon Sudbeck finished 3-0 with a pin to win 132 pounds. At 160 pounds, Noah Mahoney pinned Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Colton Bechard in the championship match. Kolter Kramer also earned a pin against Madison’s Trent Olson to finish first at 160 pounds. Logan Heidinger had two pins during his 3-0 day at 182 pounds.

Riley Neugebauer (100) and Parker Neugebauer (126) each finished in second place. Parker Neugebauer (126). Kash Neugebauer (113), Gavin Neugebauer (145), and Carter Sommer (120) picked up third-place finishes for the Trojans.

Hanson’s Brock Tuttle (195) finished in third place.


Lyman goes 3-0 at home quad

LYMAN -- Lyman swept its home quad, with wins over Miller/Highmore-Harrold (48-24), Stanley County (51-23) and Sully Buttes (63-6).

Gunner Johnson (195), Louie Thiry (220), Demery Hood (285) and Tristan Penny (160) all picked up a trio of wins. Meanwhile, Isaac McManigal (182), Easton Robbins (120), Kellen Griffith (132), Shilo Mowry (145), Hunter Collins, Braydon Oldenkamp (106), Tance Wagner and Royce McManus all had multiple wins during the quad.

Winner Area cruises past Wagner

WAGNER -- Winner Area took down Wagner 71-6 on Thursday.

Jhett Breen earned Wagner’s lone win on the night at 120 pounds with a pin.

Winner’s Aaron Gilchrist (138) and Riley Orel (152) each won via pin for the Warriors. Jude Sargent (126 and 132), Kaden Keiser (145), Sam Kruger (160 and 170), Joey Cole (182), Charley Pravecek (195), Preston Norrid (220), Achilles Willuweit (285), Maxton Brozik (106) and Kason Keiser (113) also earned wins against Wagner.

Parker tops MVPCS

MOUNT VERNON -- Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney fell to Parker, 48-29.

MVPCS’s Brandan Bosworth (145), Reece Risseeuw (182) and Kellen Cassidy (285) had pins against Parker, while Drew Gerlach (152), Cole Pranger (220) and Griffin Tobin also picked up a win.
