Area wrestling roundup: Howard wrestlers claim Flandreau Invitational team title

Tigers’ Klinkhammer earns tourney MVP

FLANDREAU -- Howard captured the Flandreau Invitational wrestling title on Saturday.

The Tigers finished with 193.5 points and they had six individual winners, including tourney MVP Kieffer Klinkhammer.

Klinkhammer claimed the 138-pound title after earning two straight pins and a 7-2 decision over Madison’s Sam Olson in title finals.

Howard’s Tate Miller (106), Trent Feldhaus (113), Riley Genzlinger (132), Lane Miller (152) and John Callies (160) also won individual titles.

KWLPG goes 3-0 at home quad

KIMBALL -- The Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes recorded a 3-0 record at its home quadrangular on Saturday. KWLPG defeated Marion/Freeman/Freeman Academy/Canistota/Menno (69-12), Miller/Highmore-Harrold (58-18) and Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney (43-31).

Against Marion/Freeman/Freeman Academy/Canistota/Menno, KWLPG won seven contested matches to earn the 57-point victory. Kasen Konstanz (113 pounds), Kyler Konstanz (126), Lucas Lenz (132), Joey Baas (152), Grayson Hanson (160), Holden Havlik (170) and Spencer Hanson (182) all posted victories.

Against Miller/Highmore-Harrold, Kasen Konstanz, Lenz and Grayson Hanson notched victories. Johnny Lenz (106), Kyler Konstanz, Chase Varilek (138) and Levi Nightingale (220) added wins against Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney picked up a 52-24 win over Marion/Freeman/Freeman Academy/Canistota/Menno. For MVPCS, Landon Boyd (126), Austin Hauge (132), Brandon Bosworth (145), Drew Gerlach (152) and Reece Risseeuw (182) each picked up wins. In its loss against KWLPG, Hadley Tobin (120), Boyd, Bosworth, Gerlach, Risseeuw and Kellen Cassidy (285) added wins.
