Area volleyball roundup: Rustlers roll past Golden Eagles

Ethan finished the first set on an 11-1 run en route to a win over Mitchell Christian in prep volleyball action on Monday. The Rustlers also pulled off a come-from-behind win in the second set and eventually won in three, 25-12, 25-20 and 25-12.

Ethan (9-2): Cameryn Logan had 13 kills, 12 digs and 14 aces, while Jada Plastow added 13 kills and 12 digs. Jessica Bartscher also had 33 assists and Hannah Bartscher pitched in 10 digs. The Rustlers play at the Sanford Pentagon Invitational on Saturday in Sioux Falls.

Mitchell Christian (2-4): Erica Thompson handed out 10 assists and came up with 10 digs, while Whisper Eben had six digs and Maggie Reynen had five. The Eagles play Tripp-Delmont/Armour on Thursday in Armour.

Canistota 3, Dell Rapids St Mary 2

CANISTOTA -- Canistota edged Dell Rapids St. Mary in a five-set marathon match on Monday. Set scores were 25-13, 30-28, 24-26, 25-27 and 15-13.

Canistota (5-7): Skylar Bultje led the way with nine kills and 24 digs. Harley Cormany posted seven kills and 25 digs. Hannah Parry logged 17 digs, 15 assists and four kills. Lexi Tieszen finished with 17 digs. Canistota hosts Colman-Egan today.

DRSM (6-5): Ella Heinitz had 19 assists, 16 digs and seven kills, while Courtney Brown had 12 kills and 23 digs. Maya Heinitz also had 23 digs and five aces, while Ella Griffin had 12 assists, nine digs and six kills. The Cardinals play Howard today in Dell Rapids.

Wessington Springs 3, TDA 1

WESSINGTON SPRINGS -- Wessington Springs topped Tripp-Delmont/Armour in a prep volleyball match on Monday. The set scores were 19-25, 25-19, 25-21 and 26-24

Wessington Springs (3-4): Grace Gran finished with 28 digs, 11 kills and four blocks. Trinity Flowers added 10 kills. Alyssa Grohs finished with 23 assists and 17 digs. The Spartans will play in the Kimball/White Lake tournament on Saturday in Kimball.

TDA (3-3): Bailey Spaans recorded 11 assists, eight digs and three aces. Hannah Stremick posted six kills and Kianna Payer posted 11 digs. Faith Werkmeister notched three aces and Montana Stirling had five blocks. The Nighthawks host Andes Central/Dakota Christian today.

Winner 3, Mobridge-Pollock 0

WINNER -- Winner swept Mobridge-Pollock in straight sets in a high school volleyball match on Monday. Set scores were 25-17, 25-13 and 25-20.

Winner (10-3): Kalla Bertram led the Warriors with 10 kills, two aces and one block. Ellie Brozik and Morgan Hammerbeck both recorded nine kills apiece. Hammerbeck added 13 digs. Maggie LaCompte recorded 14 digs and two aces. Mackenzie Levi dished out 22 assists and Addy Root added seven assists. The Warriors will play at the Eastern Classic Tournament in North Sioux City on Saturday.

Mobridge-Pollock (8-7): Megan Zahn posted 14 kills and Emma Keller handed out 20 assists. Emily Wientjes logged 21 digs. The Tigers host Lemmon on Thursday in Mobridge.

MCM 3, MVP 0

SALEM -- Class A No. 4 McCook Central/Montrose scored tight wins over Mount Vernon/Plankinton in the first two sets for sweep, 25-22, 25-21 and 25-17

MCM (11-3): Abigail Van Ruler had 14 kills and Aleah Ries chipped in eight kills and 11 digs. Jacy Pulse also had five kills and 11 digs and Emily Bies had 23 assists. The Fighting Cougars play host Flandreau today in Montrose.

MVP (4-4): Katlyn Briggs had eight kills and 12 digs, while Reagan Klooz added eight digs. The Titans play at Canton on Thursday.
