Area volleyball roundup: Parkston earns home sweep over ACDC

PARKSTON -- Parkston notched a home win in straight sets over Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-20, 25-17 and 25-16.

Parkston (5-1): Emma Yost finished with eight kills, seven digs and three kills. Mya Nuebel and Faith Oakley each served five aces. Maggie Baumgart added seven kills and two aces, whole C.C. Neugebauer dished out 16 assists. The Trojans travel to Chamberlain on Thursday.

Andes Central/Dakota Christian (0-3): Mackenzie Muckey finished with 15 digs, nine kills and two aces. Keeva Weddell dished out a team-high seven assists and chipped in seven digs. Allison Muckey recorded seven digs and five assists. The Thunder play Platte-Geddes on Monday in New Holland.

Wagner 3, Platte-Geddes 2

WAGNER -- A back-and-forth match went to Wagner over Platte-Geddes after a tightly-contested fifth set on Tuesday. Set scores were 14-25, 25-16, 25-23, 24-26 and 16-14.

Wagner (3-1): Paige Petry recorded 20 assists and four assists. Abby Brunsing put down 20 kills and added 25 digs. Avari Bruguier recorded 19 digs and 11 kills, while Olivia Breen chipped in 17 digs. Kya Kjeldgaard added three blocks. The Red Raiders travel to Gregory on Thursday.

Platte-Geddes (2-1): Regan Hoffman served nine aces to fo with 31 digs. Baleigh Nachtigal and Taryn Starr finished with six and five aces, respectively. Karly Vanderwerff chipped in 31 digs, 12 kills and three blocks. Avery Devries dished out 31 assists and Cadence Van Zee added 15 kills in the win. The Black Panthers host Bon Homme on Thursday.

Avon 3, TDA 0

AVON -- Avon picked up a straight set home win over Tripp-Delmont/Armour on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-13, 25-15 and 25-18.

Avon (3-2): Shalayne Nagel stuffed the stat sheet with six digs, four blocks and three aces. Maddie Kocmich chipped in 13 digs and two aces, while Katie Gretschmann finished with 12 digs and two aces. McKenna Kocmich added 18 assists and three aces, while Natalie Zacharias put down five kills to go with three aces. Tiffany Pelton recorded five kills. The Pirates travel to Avon on Thursday.

Tripp-Delmont/Armour (1-3): Faith Werkmeister recorded a team-high eight kills. Hannah Stremick finished with nine digs, eight assists and five kills. Bailey Spaans dished out a team-high nine assists. The Nighthawks play Kimball/White Lake on Thursday in White Lake.

Howard 3, Hanson 0

HOWARD -- Howard cruised past Hanson for its fourth win of the year on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-20, 25-10 and 25-19.

Howard (4-1): Aleya Kizer and Piper Thompson both served three aces, while Thompson added 14 digs. Kate Connor recorded eight kills and six blocks. Emma Rudebusch chipped in seven assists and Katlin Schlim finished with 10 digs. The Tigers play Elkton-Lake Benton on Thursday in Elkton.

Hanson (1-3): Grace Weber recorded 14 digs, eight kills and two blocks in the loss. Skylar Holm, Annaylse Weber and Shelby Hernandez all had 12 digs, while Hernandez and Weber both put down four kills. Jalyn Kampshoff dished out 20 assists. The Beavers play Mount Vernon/Plankinton on Thursday in Alexandria.

Burke 3, Chamberlain 0

BURKE -- Burke earned its first win of the season on Tuesday, as it defeated Chamberlain in straight sets. Set scores were 25-17, 25-20 and 25-22.

Burke (1-3): Ava Sargent dished out 16 assists, while Kailee Frank added 10 digs and four aces. Sally Hakin and Ramee Hanson both served three aces. Hakin also put down eight kills to go with 13 digs. Elle Johnson finished with 11 digs. The Cougars play St. Mary’s (Neb.) on Thursday in O’Neill, Nebraska.

Chamberlain (1-3): Mya Knippling finished with eight kills and two blocks. Kiera Eichstadt added 12 assists and 10 digs. Jayslee Petersen recorded 10 digs and four kills. The Cubs host Parkston on Thursday.

WINNER -- Class A No. 3 Winner stayed perfect on the season with a sweep of Bennett County on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-13, 25-3 and 25-10.

Winner (4-0): Kalla Bertram served seven aces and added eight digs. Ellie Brozik chipped in 17 kills and five aces, while Mackenzie Levi dished out 27 assists. Maggie LaCompte and Jenna Hammerbeck both finished with six kills. The Warriors travel to Miller on Thursday.

Bennett County (0-6): No stats reported. The Warriors play White River on Thursday in Martin.

Freeman 3, Centerville 1

CENTERVILLE -- Freeman earned its third win of the season with a sweep of Centerville on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-19, 25-14 and 25-11.

Freeman (3-1): Rijjy Peterson finished with 12 digs, nine aces and seven kills, while Odalite Pankratz had a team-best 10 kills to go with nine assists, five digs and four aces. Lily Wipf and Kate Miller recorded four and three aces, respectively. Wipf finished with seven digs and Paige Auch added 12 assists. The Flyers play Gayville-Volin on Thursday in Gayville.

Centerville (0-4): No stats reported. The Tornadoes play Bon Homme on Monday in Tyndall.

Sioux Valley 3, MCM 2

VOLGA -- After dropping the first two sets on Tuesday, Sioux Valley rallied to win three straight sets to top McCook Central/Montrose. Set scores were 13-22, 22-25, 25-19, 25-14 and 17-15.

Sioux Valley (2-2): Haydyn Hauge dished out 33 assists and eight digs. Rylan Willis added 24 kills and six aces. Kasey Pistulka finished with 29 digs. The Cossacks travel to Parker on Thursday in the Big East Conference tournament.

McCook Central/Montrose (1-4): Riley Morrison and Ashtyn Wobig finished with 24 and 13 digs, respectively. Maggie Miles served six aces. The Fighting Cougars play Flandreau on Thursday in Montrose in the Big East Conference tournament.

Vermillion 3, Bon Homme 0

TYNDALL -- Vermillion notched a road win in straight sets over Bon Homme on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-18, 25-19 and 25-17.

Vermillion (2-2): Kara Klemme stuffed the stat sheet with 18 digs, three aces and three kills. Sydney Stockwell added 13 digs and a team-high eight kills. Shandie Ludwig chipped in 18 digs and four aces, while Eva Knutson served three aces. Claire Doty finished with 21 assists and 10 digs. The Tanagers host Tri-Valley on Thursday.

Bon Homme (2-3): Olivia Bures recorded a team-best eight kills and 14 digs, while Jenna Duffek recorded seven assists and seven digs. Jenae Alberts and Mckenzie Carson both added nine digs. The Cavaliers travel to Platte-Geddes on Thursday.

MVP 3, Ethan 2

PLANKINTON -- Mount Vernon/Plankinton won the final two sets on Tuesday to down Ethan on Tuesday. Set scores were 21-25, 25-12, 24-26, 28-26 and 15-8.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton (2-2): Maria Baker put down 20 kills and Shyla Tobin dished out 42 assists in the win. Tessa Pickart finished with 19 digs and Haley Pickart added 16 digs and 13 kills. The Titans play Hanson on Thursday in Alexandria.

Ethan (2-2): Ava Lingemann finished with 58 digs, five kills and three aces. Bella Nesheim put down 14 kills. Maddy Bartscher and Payton Riggs both dished out 14 assists. The Rustlers host Menno on Monday.

Wessington Springs picked up a straight set win over Mitchell Christian at MCS gym on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-10, 25-22 and 25-23.

Wessington Springs (2-2): Grace Gran finished with 10 kills and 10 digs, while Trinity Flowers added eight kills and nine digs. Alyssa Grohs dished out 30 assists and Maddie Privett added 20 digs. The Spartans travel to Lower Brule on Thursday.

Mitchell Christian (1-2): Maggie Reynen and Kaitlyn Tegethoff both put down seven kills. Erica Thompson added 12 assists and seven digs, while Whisper Eben finished with seven digs. The Golden Eagles host Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Thursday.

Corsica-Stickney 3, SCW 0

CORSICA -- Corsica-Stickney earned a home sweep over Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-9, 25-13 and 25-18.

Corsica-Stickney (3-1): Morgan DeLange finished with 16 kills, eight digs and three aces for the Jaguars. Avery Broughton chipped in 10 digs and nine kills, while Camden Plooster dished out 17 assists in the win. Plooster and Marisa DeLange both served two aces. The Jaguars play James Valley Christian on Thursday in Corsica.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (1-3): Brooke Doering put down a team-high seven kills and Cassidy Slykhuis finished with 10 digs, five kills and two blocks. Morgan Schmiedt finished with 13 digs and 10 assists, while Ellie Voneye recorded 11 digs and six assists. The Blackhawks travel to Mitchell Christian on Thursday.
