Area volleyball roundup: Huskies roll past Hawks

EMERY -- Bridgewater-Emery took down Canistota for a straight set win in Region 5B play on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-20, 25-18 and 25-15.

Bridgewater-Emery (19-2): Julia Weber dished out 29 assists, put down 14 kills and added 12 digs for the Huskies. Taylor Schallenkamp recorded nine kills. Cara Meyer recorded 14 digs, while Morgan Uptagrafft finished with six digs. The Huskies will host Alcester-Hudson on Thursday.

Canistota: Mykkah Krinke recorded 20 assists and 12 digs. Kenzy Krinke recorded 17 digs and seven kills, while Lexi Tieszen added 21 digs. Desiree Pierce chipped in 18 digs. Kayla Papendick nine digs and seven kills. The Hawks finish the season 5-14.

Alcester-Hudson 3, Scotland 1

EMERY -- Alcester-Hudson took down Scotland in four sets on Tuesday to advance in the Region 5B tournament. Set scores were 25-18, 18-25, 25-21 and 25-19.

Alcester-Hudson (14-12): Alyssa Keiser recorded 22 digs and Veronica Rhead added 13 kills. Bayleigh Peterson finished with 28 assists and 18 digs. Ella Serck added 17 digs and Emily Vander Feen chipped in 11 kills and 10 digs. The Cubs travel to Bridgewater-Emery on Thursday.


Scotland: Kennedy Bietz recorded 14 digs and 11 kills for the Highlanders. Delanie Vandriel put down nine kills. Grace Fryda chipped in 19 digs and seven kills. Rylee Conrad added 30 assists. Makayla Friederich recorded 14 digs. The Highlanders finish the season 9-8.

Gayville-Volin 3, Menno 0

GAYVILLE -- Gayville-Volin notched a sweep of Menno on Tuesday to advance in the Region 5B tournament. Set scores were 25-21, 25-16 and 25-14.

Gayville-Volin (16-3): Kayla Vanosdel and Samantha Olsen recorded 10 and nine kills, respectively. Molly Larson had a team-high 31 digs. Taylor Hoxeng finished with 19 digs. Keeley Larson dished out 28 assists. Gayville-Volin hosts Freeman on Thursday.

Menno: Jesse Munkvold recorded 24 digs and 11 kills, while Kylie Harriman dished out 12 assists. Kaylie Schempp added 18 digs. Paityn Huber recorded 10 digs and six assists. Grace Nusz added nine digs. The Wolves finish the season 10-13.

Freeman 3, Irene-Wakonda 0

FREEMAN -- Freeman took down Irene-Wakonda in straight sets for a Region 5B victory on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-18, 25-13 and 26-24.

Freeman (16-6): Rijjy Peterson finished with 18 digs, 12 kills and four aces. Cara Maske added 29 assists and 11 digs. Lily Wipf added 13 digs. Odalite Pankratz chipped in 13 digs and eight kills. Freeman travels to Gayville-Volin on Thursday.

Irene-Wakonda: Emma McDonald recorded 13 digs and nine kills, while Emma Orr added 12 assists and 10 digs. McKenna Mork finished with eight assists and seven digs. Willa Freeman chipped in 15 digs. Irene-Wakonda finishes the season 10-15.

MCM 3, Wagner 1

WAGNER -- McCook Central/Montrose staved off Wagner’s comeback to earn a Region 5A win on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-18, 25-23, 21-25 and 25-22.


McCook Central/Montrose (13-10): Riley Morrison recorded 32 digs and five aces. Ashtyn Wobig and Michaela McCormick both had 11 kills, while Wobig also added 16 digs. Maggie Miles and Brianna Even recorded 19 and 17 assists, respectively. Tayah McGregor added three blocks. The Fighting Cougars travel to Parker on Thursday

Wagner: Abby Brunsing finished with 19 digs and 18 kills for the Red Raiders. Madi Knebel served seven aces to go with 13 digs, while Macy Koupal dished out 16 assists. Paige Petry added 15 assists, 14 digs and five aces. Avari Bruguier chipped in 13 digs and 12 kills. Wagner finishes the season 10-6.

Parkston 3, MVP 0

PARKSTON -- Parkston recorded a Region 5A victory over Mount Vernon/Plankinton in straight sets on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-17, 25-17 and 25-22.

Parkston (17-7): Emma Yost put down 11 kills and served four aces. Maggie Baumgart recorded 10 kills and C.C. Neugebauer dished out 34 assists. Tiah Holzbauer added 28 digs. The Trojans travel to Madison on Thursday

Mount Vernon/Plankinton (10-11 before): Maria Baker finished with nine kills and two blocks. Shyla Tobin added 22 assists and Jocelyn Monzano recorded 16 digs. MVP finishes the season 10-12.

ELB 3, Howard 0

ELKTON -- Elkton-Lake Benton took down Howard in straight sets to pick up a Region 4B win on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-13, 25-20 and 25-12.

Elkton-Lake Benton (20-4): Hannah Krog had a team-high 15 kills to go with seven digs and three aces. Kailyn Drietz added nine kills and Tevan Erickson put down seven kills. Julia Drietz dished out 32 assists. Rachael Krog recorded 11 digs. Elkton-Lake Benton travels to Colman-Egan on Thursday.

Howard: Emma Rudebusch finished with 12 assists and 10 digs. Piper Thompson chipped in a team-best 25 digs. Katlin Schlim recorded 16 digs. The Tigers finish the season 8-13.


Colman-Egan 3, SCW 0

COLMAN -- Colman-Egan took down Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in straight sets in Region 4B action on Tuesday.

Colman-Egan (22-3): Mackenzie Hemmer finished with 12 kills, seven digs and six blocks. Olivia Baumberger and Braiden Westley both added seven digs, while Baumberger also recorded 12 kills. Westley also had 18 assists. Colman-Egan hosts Elkton-Lake Benton on Thursday.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket: Morgan Schmiedt dished out 13 assists. Trista White put down six kills. Teya Moody added seven digs. The Blackhawks finish the season 9-13.

Corsica-Stickney 3, Gregory 0

CORSICA -- Corsica-Stickney took down Gregory for a Region 6B victory in straight sets on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-14, 25-21 and 25-9.

Corsica-Stickney (17-3): Raven Barse recorded 18 digs and 12 kills, while Sutten Eide dished out 23 assists and 11 digs. Morgan Clites had a team-high 25 digs. Avery Broughton and Rachel Gerlach both had eight kills. Morgan DeLange put down seven kills. The Jaguars play Platte-Geddes on Thursday in Bonesteel.

Gregory: Brooklynn Kenzy finished with 12 digs, five kills and two blocks. Dakota Timanus recorded five digs and four kills. Sapphire Kenzy added 11 digs. Brynn Hylla chipped in 12 assists and eight digs. The Gorillas finish the season 7-16.

Platte-Geddes 3, Burke 0

CORSICA -- Platte-Geddes took down Burke in straight sets to advance in the Region 6B tournament on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-20, 25-23 and 25-18.

Platte-Geddes (17-7): Avery Devries recorded 33 assists and 19 digs in the win. Regan Hoffman chipped in 24 digs, while Cadence Van Zee recorded 15 kills and 15 kills. Karly Vanderwerff added 25 kills and 12 digs. Baleigh Nachtigal finished with 11 digs in the win. The Black Panthers play Corsica-Stickney on Thursday in Bonesteel.


Burke: Bobbi Jo Wischmann stuffed the stat sheet with 18 assists, 18 digs and three aces in the loss. Ramee Hanson recorded nine digs. Sally Hakin and Adisyn Indahl chipped in 14 and 13 digs, respectively, while Indahl also added 12 kills. The Cougars end 13-11 this season.

KIMBALL -- Avon kept its season alive on Tuesday with a straight set win over Colome in Region 6B action. Set scores were 25-14, 25-17 and 25-19.

Avon (11-5): McKenna Kocmich finished with 18 assists, four digs and two aces. Tiffany Pelton put down a team-high 10 kills to go with three blocks and three digs. Katie Gretschmann added 15 digs. The Pirates play Kimball/White Lake on Thursday in Bonesteel.

Colome: Makayla Shippy added 14 digs and 12 kills. Saydee Heath recorded seven kills and four digs. Baylie Hoffine added nine digs. The Cowgirls finish the season 12-7.

KWL 3, Bon Homme 0

KIMBALL -- Kimball/White Lake cruised past Bon Homme for a straight set win on Tuesday in Region 6B play. Set scores were 25-13, 25-15 and 25-21.

Kimball/White Lake (15-5): Kennedy Leiferman recorded 12 kills, three aces and three blocks. Dani Deffenbaugh stuffed the stat sheet with 12 digs, 10 kills, five aces and two blocks. Ryann Nielsen dished out 18 assists. Alison Sinclair chipped in 10 kills and two aces. Kimball/White Lake plays Avon on Thursday in Bonesteel.

Bon Homme: McKenzie Carson put down five kills. Olivia Bures added six kills and three digs. Jenna Duffek finished with 16 assists, two aces and two blocks. The Cavaliers finish the season 9-15.
