Area students lead list of NASP state winners

A number of youth archers recently placed at the National Archery in the Schools Program state tournaments in Rapid City and Yankton earlier this month.

A number of youth archers recently placed at the National Archery in the Schools Program state tournaments in Rapid City and Yankton earlier this month.

In Rapid City on April 2, Dakota Christian took first place among middle school teams and Avon was second among high school teams. McCook Central's Austin Stromberg was the winner of the high school division, while Dakota Christian's Lexie Vander Pol was third in the middle school division.

In Yankton, Dakota Christian placed teams in all three categories, placing second in the elementary division and first in the middle school and high school levels. Avon was second at the Yankton high school team competition.

The middle school placewinners at Yankton included first-place winner Madison Stroud, of McCook Central, second-place winner Brianna Smith, of Lyman, and Dakota Christian's Lexie Vander Pol was third.

Among high schoolers, Dakota Christian's Isabel Pheifer took first and teammate Kendall Veenstra was third.
