PLANKINTON -- No. 5 Platte Geddes edged No. 4 Mount Vernon/Plankinton on Tuesday in Region 5A quarterfinal play, 25-19, 11-25, 25-21 and 25-22.

Platte-Geddes (14-17): Sawyer Naasz had a huge outing, posting 14 kills and 24 digs in the win for the Black Panthers. Taryn Starr added 13 kills and Courtney Neuman dished out 18 assists. Platte-Geddes plays McCook Central/Montrose on Thursday in Montrose.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton (14-16): Katlyn Briggs paced the Titans with 20 kills and three blocks, while Reagan Klooz was all over the court with 21 assists and 15 digs. Kailee Fox also pitched in three aces in defeat for MVP.  

Chester Area 3, Mitchell Christian 0 MADISON -- The top seed in Region 4B flexed its muscles as Chester Area topped Mitchell Christian in three sets, 25-11, 25-11 and 25-8.

Chester Area (23-5): Hailey Ewoldt had 34 assists and Makenna Larson added 10 kills and 13 digs. Jayda Kenyon also had eight kills and three blocks, while Hanna Reiff added 20 digs. Chester faces Hanson on Thursday in Madison.


Mitchell Christian (5-20): Sarah Morris had 12 digs and Erica Thompson added five digs, three assists and two kills. Kaitlyn Tegethoff had three blocks.

Canistota 3, Irene-Wakonda 1 FREEMAN -- No. 2 Canistota topped No. 7 Irene-Wakonda in Region 5B quarterfinal play, 25-19, 26-24, 22-25 and 25-11.

Canistota (22-7): Hannah Parry had a match-high 38 assists and nine digs, while Jordan Engbrecht had 12 kills and 23 digs. Noelle Hofer also had 12 kills and 14 digs and Cassidy Keller had 27 digs. Canistota plays Freeman on Thursday in Emery.

Irene-Wakonda (10-16): Emma McDonald had a match-high 34 digs and eight kills. Shannon Sokolowski also had 18 digs, nine kills and two blocks, while Malloy O’Malley had 14 assists and 15 digs. Nora O’Malley pitched in three kills, five digs and six blocks.

Freeman 3, Alcester-Hudson 0 FREEMAN -- Region 5B’s No. 3 seed, Freeman, recorded a three-set victory over No. 6 Alcester-Hudson to advance to the regional semifinals, 25-11, 25-15 and 25-8.

Freeman (21-7): Rijjy Peterson stuffed the stat sheet for the Flyers, putting up 24 digs, four kills, four assists, four blocks and four aces. Emily Miller also added 15 kills, four digs and three aces. Josie Fuhrmann handed out 32 assists and came up with 10 digs, while Dayna Roth added 10 digs, five kills and three aces. Freeman plays Canistota on Thursday in Emery.

Alcester-Hudson (9-18): Bayleigh Peterson had three assists and four digs, while Keandra Rhead and Lizzy Hallaway each had three digs, two kills and 1.5 blocks.

Burke 3, Scotland 0 BURKE -- Burke, the top seed in Region 6B, advanced with a three-set win over Scotland, 25-11, 25-16 and 25-11.


Burke (27-7): Taylee Indahl led the Cougars with 17 kills and 10 digs, while Lahna Matucha pitched in 10 kills. Sierra Swan had four kills and four blocks, while Lainee Schonebaum came up with 14 digs and six aces. Bobbi Jo Wischmann registered 25 assists. Burke plays Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Thursday in Bonesteel.

Scotland (8-20): Kennedy Bietz and Kelsi Nooney had nine kills apiece for the Highlanders. Rylee Conrad added nine digs and Brittney Bauder had five digs. Bella Vitek and Delanie Van Driel each had three kills.

AC/DC 3, Gregory 0 GREGORY -- No. 5 Andes Central/Dakota Christian upended No. 4 Gregory on the road in the Region 6B quarterfinals, 25-10, 25-21 and 25-15.

ACDC (20-11): Mackenzie Muckey had a strong night, recording 17 kills, 17 digs and four aces. Brianna Deurmier handed out 26 assists and Tyra Medicine Horn added 18 digs, nine kills and five blocks. Melanie Mudder and Isabel Pheifer had nine digs apiece. The Thunder plays Burke on Thursday in Bonesteel.

Gregory (15-13): Sydney Svatos had nine assists and three aces in defeat for the Gorillas. Jessy Jo VanDerWerff and Brilee Peck had 13 and 11 digs, respectively. Megan Warnke also chipped in five kills. 

KWL 3, Colome 0 WHITE LAKE -- Kimball/White Lake scored a three-set win over Colome on Tuesday in the Region 6B quarterfinals, 25-12, 25-11 and 25-20.

Kimball/White Lake (20-7): Darby Deffenbaugh recorded 18 digs and eight aces and Grace Konechne added eight kills, eight digs and four aces. Kennedy Leiferman had nine digs and two aces, while Heather Munsen had 23 assists. The WiLdKats face Corsica-Stickney on Thursday in Bonesteel.

Colome (13-19): Kaydee Heath had five kills and seven digs, while Makayla Shippy added 14 assists and eight digs in the loss for the Cowgirls. Saydee Heath had four kills, an ace and a block.


Corsica-Stickney 3, Avon 0 AVON -- No. 6 Corsica-Stickney upset No. 3 Avon in Region 6B quarterfinal action on Tuesday, 25-11, 25-14 and 25-19.

Corsica-Stickney (14-13): Courtney Menning had 20 digs, seven kills, three aces and two blocks in the win, while Raven Barse added 19 digs, eight kills and seven blocks. Kassidy Clark had 10 assists and Camden Plooster had nine. The Jaguars play Kimball/White Lake on Thursday in Bonesteel.

Avon (19-9): KaCee Zacharias had 10 kills and 10 digs in a losing effort, while Lauren Sees had 10 digs and three aces. Madisyn Cameron pitched in 15 assists for the Pirates.  

Wagner 3, Bon Homme 0 WAGNER -- No. 2 seed Wagner advanced in a Region 5A quarterfinal match thanks to a three-set win over Bon Homme on Tuesday, 25-13, 25-17 and 25-17.

Wagner (27-4): Abby Brunsing recorded  a match-high 13 kills and Lizzie Tyler dished out 13 assists in the win. Maesa Dvorak recorded four aces and two blocks, while Kirstyn Roth added eight digs. The Red Raiders host Parker on Thursday, with the winner moving on to the Round of 16.

Bon Homme (5-24): Emily Cap came up with 24 digs and Jenae Alberts pitched in 20 for the Cavaliers. Lauren Bastemeyer and Ciera Himes had six kills apiece and Johanna Jelsma handed out 17 assists.

Parker 3, Parkston 0 PARKER -- The No. 3 seed in Region 5A, Parker, picked up a three-set win over Parkston on Tuesday night, 25-10, 25-21 and 25-11.

Parker (24-7): Grace Leberman had a big night for Parker in the win, registering 10 kills and 16 digs, while Karley Peters added nine kills nine digs and two aces. Hannah Even doled out 31 assits, while Sydney Berens and Raelin Jurgens had six and five kills, respectively. Parker plays travels to Wagner on Thursday.

Parkston (9-23): Amber Albrecht had 21 digs and four kills, while Brenna Walz had 16 digs and three kills and Tiah Holzbauer added 18 digs and three kills. Izzy Hohn handed out 12 assists in the loss for the Trojans.

Chamberlain 3, Crow Creek 0 CHAMBERLAIN -- Chamberlain picked up a win over Crow Creek in Region 6A quarterfinal action, 25-14, 25-21 and 25-15.

Chamberlain (12-16): Hannah Anderson led the Cubs with 10 kills and Mady Handel added nine more. Taylor Toering had nine digs and Avany Long served up four aces and 11 digs. Chamberlain plays Cheyenne-Eagle Butte on Thursday in Eagle Butte.

Crow Creek (10-19): Statistics were not submitted by Crow Creek.

Bridgewater-Emery 3, Freeman Academy/Marion 0 EMERY -- The top seed in Region 5B, Bridgewater-Emery, scored a three-set win over No. 8 Freeman Academy/Marion in the regional quarterfinals, 25-13, 25-19 and 25-10.

Bridgewater-Emery (21-6): Sydney Hoffman had 10 kills, four aces and a block and Katelyn Kotas added 12 digs for the Huskies. Kerrigan Schultz had 16 assists and Joslyn Schrank had 16 digs. Bridgewater-Emery hosts No. 5 Menno on Thursday in Emery.

Freeman Academy/Marion (8-19): Katelyn Johnson had 11 assists and 12 digs in defeat, while Andrea Wollman added seven kills. Emily Heeg and Josie Epp had 14 digs apiece and Oddy Pankratz added 12 digs as well.

Menno 3, Gayville-Volin 2 EMERY -- No. 5 Menno outlasted No. 4 Gayville-Volin in five sets to advance to the Region 5B semifinals, 25-22, 15-25, 29-27, 20-25 and 15-12.

Menno (12-14): Morgan Edelman had a big night, leading the Wolves with 11 kills, 44 digs and two aces. Jaedyn Oplinger also had 27 assists and 19 digs and Tess Oplinger pitched in 21 assists and 28 digs. Kiara Nusz added 13 kills, 26 digs and five blocks. Menno plays Bridgewater-Emery on Thursday in Emery.

Gayville-Volin (15-11): Kayla VanOsdel had 17 kills and 25 digs, while Abby Larson added 44 assists and 12 digs. Molly Larson and Tori Gale had 35 digs apiece.
