WINNER-Oscar Pravecek carried a big bat in Winner/Colome Post 146's shutout win over Gregory County Post 6 on Thursday.
Pravecek went 3-for-3 and drove in four runs, including a two-run triple to start the scoring in the bottom of the first, an RBI single in the second and a solo home run to cap the scoring in the fourth.
Shea Connot also went 2-for-2, while Phillip Jorgensen and Carter Brickman each drove in two runs apiece. Brickman also picked up the win on the mound, surrendering two hits and a walk in four innings, while fanning seven.
Tommy Determan was 2-for-2 in defeat for Gregory.
Winner/Colome (5-3) travels to Alexandria on Sunday for a triangular that also includes Parkston.
McCook/Miner 4, Garretson 1
SALEM-All five runs scored in the game came in the third inning and McCook/Miner Post 61 was able to nab four of them in a win over Garretson Post 23.
McCook/Miner answered Garretson's 1-0 lead with four hits in the bottom of the inning. Kyle Tuschen recorded an RBI single, followed by a run on a wild pitch, before Jackson Fiegen cleared the bases with a two-run triple.
Sam Gillespie allowed one earned run on four hits and four walks across 6 2/3 innings, while striking out eight. Jacob Cheeseman recorded the final out to earn the save.
McCook/Miner (6-2) hosts Dell Rapids on Monday in Canova.
Humboldt/Hartford sweeps Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA-Alexandria Post 41 mustered one run as Humboldt/Hartford Post 62 left with a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday.
Humboldt/Hartford scored a run in the first four innings for a 4-0 Game 1 win and then cruised past Alexandria to win Game 2, 12-1.
In the first game, Craig Lasley gave up three earned runs on nine hits, while striking out six batters in six innings. Jonah Hofer accounted for half of Alexandria's hit total during a 2-for-3 outing.
Humboldt/Hartford scored four runs in the third inning of Game 2 and seven in the fifth to pull away. Alexandria scored its lone run on an error in the bottom of the third.
Carter Dye went 2-for-2 as Post 41 once again totaled four hits.
Three Alexandria pitchers gave up three earned runs on 12 hits in five frames.
Alexandria (1-8) hosts Parkston on Friday.
