AVON - Lauren Sees paced Avon to victory in girls high school basketball action as Avon defeated Freeman 55-45 Monday night in Avon.

Sees tallied 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Heidi Cap added 11 points and three steals. Avon shot 20-of-46 from the field and 11-of-23 from the line.

For Freeman, Erika Sage recorded 20 points, two assists and two steals. Josie Fuhrman added nine points in the loss. The Flyers shot 11-of-53 from the field and 18-of-35 from the free throw line.

Avon (12-4) hosts Viborg-Hurley tonight, while Freeman (13-3) visits Hanson tonight in Alexandria.

NEW HOLLAND - The Thunder of Andes Central/Dakota Christian thumped Wessington Springs in girls high school basketball action 69-28 on Monday night in New Holland.

AC/DC was led by Ahana Vander Pol with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Kennedy Muckey added 13 points and four rebounds. The Thunder shot 25-of-49 from the field and 15-of-28 from the line.

For Wessington Springs, Cadee Schelske had nine points and six rebounds, while Maddie Gran added five points and five rebounds in the loss. The Spartans shot 10-of-48 from the field and 3-of-7 from the line.

Wessington Springs was outrebounded 38-37.

Andes Central/Dakota Christian (9-6) takes on Crazy Horse in the Dakota Plains Invitational on Thursday in Marty, while Wessington Springs (4-12) hosts Miller on Thursday in Wessington Springs.

HARTFORD - Morgan Koepsell reached the 1,000-point milestone on Monday night in girls high school basketball action as McCook Central/Montrose defeated West Central 53-46 in Hartford.

Koepsell also recorded a double-double with 30 points and 13 rebounds. Natalie Gottlob added eight points and 15 rebounds, while Rachael Laetsch had six points and 13 assists. MCM shot 21-of-47 from the field and 8-of-11 from the line.

For West Central, McKenzie Stone and Alexa From finished with 14 points apiece in the loss. The Trojans shot 18-of-64 from the field and 7-of-11 from the line.

McCook Central/Montrose (15-2) hosts Parkston on Saturday, while West Central (11-5) hosts Vermillion tonight.

ETHAN - The Ethan girls basketball team raced past Canistota 91-39 on Monday night in girls high school basketball action. The Rustlers had four players score in double digits in the contest.

Karly Gustafson tallied 26 points and six rebounds for Ethan, while Ellie Hohn chipped in 17 points and six rebounds. Kacey Bartscher and Rachel Hawkins added 12 points apiece. The Rustlers shot 36-of-60 from the field and 13-of-19 from the field.

For Canistota, Kalli Ortman recorded 14 points in the loss.

NEW HOLLAND - Wessington Springs held on for victory on Monday night in overtime, defeating Andes Central/Dakota Christian 72-67.

The Spartans had four players score in double digits. Nicholas Paulson led all scoring with 30 points and six rebounds. John Witte had 17 points and Chase VonEye added 10 points and nine rebounds. Landon Ochsner had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Wessington Springs shot 27-of-73 from the field and 13-of-17 from the line.

For AC/DC, Chase Pheifer recorded 19 points, while Michael Maas and JB Bruguier had 16 and 14 points, respectively. The Thunder shot 28-of-64 from the field and 9-of-22 from the field.

Wessington Springs (5-8) hosts Wolsey-Wessington tonight, while Andes Central/Dakota Christian (4-9) plays Crazy Horse in the Dakota Plains Invitational on Thursday in Marty.
