Area high school basketball: MCM boys, others win at Parkston Classic

PARKSTON -- Isaac Anderson and Will Gottlob helped lead McCook Central/Montrose to a 64-57 victory over Vermillion in the Parkston Classic on Monday in Parkston. Anderson and Gottlob had 15 points and five rebounds each.

PARKSTON -- Corsica/Stickney received key contributions from several players en route to a 66-35 victory over Centerville on Monday in the Parkston Classic in Parkston. Austin Tilton had 14 points to lead all scorers, while Clayton Menning and Walker Baan Hofman each had 12 points. Eli Van Roekel had 10 points and five rebounds, while Cordell Menning finished with 11.

Christian Gruschin led Centerville with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Corsica/Stickney (3-2) takes on Elkton-Lake Benton on Friday in Sioux Falls, while Centerville (2-3) faces Scotland on Saturday in Scotland.

PARKSTON -- Shay Jolley helped lead Canistota to victory with a 27 point performance Monday night defeating Hitchcock-Tulare 56-49 in the Parkston Classic in Parkston.

In addition to Jolley, Drew Seubert chipped in with 11 points and Carson Hofer grabbed five rebounds.

Tyler Oechsle led Hitchcock-Tulare with 19 points and eight rebounds. Chase Bixler scored 14 and grabbed six rebounds.

Canistota (3-0) takes on Mount Vernon/Plankinton on Friday at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, while Hitchcock/Tulare (1-2) faces Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Saturday in Woonsocket.

PARKSTON -- Ethan relied on Camden Myers' 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists as it moved past Chester Area 64-57 in the Parkston Classic on Monday in Parkston.

Jesse Kreutzfeldt had 21 points, while Cole Acheson, Austin Eppard and Levi Devries each finished with five rebounds for Chester Area.

Bridgewater-Emery 54, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 33

BROOKINGS -- The Bridgewater-Emery girls basketball team won its third straight game Monday after beating Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 54-33 at the Swiftel Classic in Brookings.

Justine Dye recorded a game-high 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Tiana Kayser had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Kadra Kayser added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Huskies, who shot 34 percent from the field and 47 percent from the line.

ORR was led by Joie Spier with 13 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.

The Huskies (3-2) host Canistota on Saturday in Bridgewater.

BROOKINGS -- Canistota suffered an 80-35 loss Monday to Sioux Valley at the Swiftel Classic in Brookings.

Christine Heiman led the Hawks with 13 points and six rebounds, while Kalli Ortman added 12 points. Canistota shot 24 percent from the field and 56 percent from the free throw line.

Sioux Valley's Carley Peterson had 21 points and Kaylee Granum added 15.

The Hawks (1-5) play Bridgewater-Emery on Saturday in Bridgewater.

SCOTLAND -- Scotland held off Corsica/Stickney and won 36-32 on Monday in a high school girls basketball game.

Carley Skorepa had 14 points, five rebounds and two steals, while Shannon Fanning added 10 points and five rebounds in the win. Scotland shot 39 percent from the field and had 18 rebounds and 20 turnovers.

Micayla Bamberg recorded 13 points and Hope Menning added 12 for the Jaguars, who shot 33 percent from the field and recorded 14 rebounds and 15 turnovers.

Scotland (3-2) won the JV game and hosts Gayville-Volin on Jan. 6, while Corsica/Stickney (3-4) hosts Parkston on Jan. 6 in Corsica.

SALEM -- The McCook Central/Montrose girls basketball team improved to 5-0 on Monday after beating Dell Rapids 63-44.

Brianna Painter recorded a game-high 29 points, while Morgan Koepsell had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the win. MCM (5-0) was 24-of-44 from the field, 8-of-13 from the line and had 17 turnovers and 49 rebounds.

Lindsey Morris made 11 points for Dell Rapids, which was 13-of-60 from the field, 12-of-17 from the field and had nine turnovers and 23 rebounds.

MCM plays at Sioux Falls Christian on Monday.
