Area high school baseball roundup: Max Scott earns win, belts home run in Parkston/Ethan/Tripp victory over Hanson-Aurora

Parkston/Ethan/Tripp's Max Scott strikes out four batters, hits solo home run


MOUNT VERNON -- Parkston/Ethan/Tripp scored six runs in the final three innings to earn a 10-5 high school baseball victory over Hanson-Aurora on Tuesday.

Max Scott and Brayden Jervik finished with two hits apiece, while Scott smacked a solo home run in the first inning. Landon Sudbeck, Ty Neugebauer, Logan Heidinger and T.J. Schmidt each had a hit.

Scott earned the win after allowing one hit, zero runs and striking out four batters in two innings.

For Hanson-Aurora, Daniel Laufman and Rylee Deinert had two hits apiece. Drew Gerlach, Blaine Bohr and Isaiah Olson each had hits. Gerlach took the loss after surrendering four hits, four earned runs and striking out five batters in four innings.

McCook 11, Sioux Falls Christian 1

SALEM -- Jackson Remmers and Kane Muth posted three hits apiece in McCook’s high school baseball win over Sioux Falls Christian on Tuesday.


Remmers drove in four runs, while Avery Feterl, Braeden Kerkhove and Jacob Wagner each had a hit. Kerkhove, Wagner and Joe Loudenburg each drove in a run.

Kerkhove started the first five innings, allowing four hits, one unearned run and striking out two batters.

PGDCWLCS 9, Gregory County 4

GREGORY -- Kelby VanDerWerff and Aiden Bultje combined for 13 strikeouts to power Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake/Corsica-Stickney to a high school baseball win over Gregory County on Tuesday.

VanDerWerff fanned five batters, allowed nine hits and two earned runs in four innings. Bultje struck out eight batters, allowed one hit and zeror runs in three innings.

Jackson Olsen, Jaylen Kemp, Myles Kott and Kane Knudson each recorded two hits. Olsen logged three RBIs, while Kemp drove in two runs.

For Gregory County, Trey Murray finished 4 of 4 and drove in one run. Sawyer Tietgen went 3 of 4 and knocked in a run. Rhoss Oliver added two hits, while Ben Witt, Kade Braun and Gannon Thomas each had a hit. Witt started and allowed nine hits, eight runs (four earned runs) and had four strikeouts in five innings. Murray pitched two relief innings and allowed one hit, one earned run and struck out one batter.

Wagner 2, Vermillion 0

VERMILLION -- Joey Cournoyer and Carter Cournoyer combined for a one-hit shutout in Wagner’s high school baseball win over Vermillion.

Joey Cournoyer earned the win after striking out six batters and allowing one hit in three innings. Carter Cournoyer added three strikeouts in two innings.


Offensively, Joey Cournoyer, Matt Link, Corbin Carda, Daniel Soukup and Frank Soukup all had hits. Frank Soukup drove in a run.

Vermillion 10, Wagner 0 (5 innings)

VERMILLION -- Vermillion’s Willis Robertson struck out nine batters in a four-hit shutout against Wagner on Tuesday.

Vermillion finished with 12 hits, including two apiece from Robertson, Connor Saunders, Jack Kratz, Ben Burbach and Nick Roob.

For Wagner, Matt Link, Nolan Carda, Dustin Honomichl and Simon Freier each logged hits. Nolan Dvorak took the loss after allowing seven hits, eight earned runs and striking out two batters in 2/3 innings.

Redfield 6, WWSSC 1

REDFIELD -- Redfield plated five runs in the third inning to secure a high school baseball win over Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central on Tuesday.

Tyler Kole and Draven Thompson each had a hit for the Blackhawks. Gerritt Brandenburg was tagged with the loss after allowing three hits, five runs (three earned runs) and walking four batters in three innings.
