Area golfers shine at junior tour event

Mitchell's Allison Meyerink was among the winners at the South Dakota Golf Association's Junior Tour stop in Mitchell on Monday.

Meyerink shot a 61 to win the 11-under girls age division, winning by 10 strokes over second-place finisher Dalonnah Henry of Niobrara, Nebraska. The 11 and under divisions played nine holes, while the rest played 18 holes.

Mitchell's Masy Mock carded a 13-over-par 85 and placed second in the 14-15 girls division. She finished four strokes by Sioux Falls' Reese Jansa.

In the 12-13 boys division, Parkston's Payton Koehn and Gregory's Eli Fogel placed second and third, respectively. Koehn shot a seven-over-par 79 and Fogel carded an 81. Mitchell's Carter Shawd (86) placed fifth in the same age division.

Platte's Brody Boltjes placed fifth in the 14-15 age division with a 78. In the girls 16-18 division, Mitchell's Ashley Zimmer placed fifth with an 87. Mitchell's Asher Dannenbring placed fourth in the boys 11 and under division with a 48.

Mitchell's event was one of seven in the Southeast Region of the SDGA Junior Tour, which ends today at the Brandon Golf Course.
