Area football roundup: Raiders’ pass game guides it past Avon

AVON -- Gayville-Volin’s Nate Quatier threw for four touchdowns in a 40-28 win over Avon on Monday.

Quartier completed 17 of 24 passes for 261 yards, four scores and an interception. Kyle Hirsch caught 10 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 171 yards and a score on eight carries. Andrew Gustad carried the ball 10 times for 62 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Gustad had a team-high 14 tackles. Hirsch and Quatier both intercepted a pass.

Lincoln Thury finished with 15 tackles for the Pirates. Jaden Stahl picked off a pass. Riley Rucktaeschel threw for 268 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the loss. He connected with Ashton Frank eight times for 152 yards and a touchdown. Hunter Rucktaeschel added four receptions, 75 yards and a touchdown.

Gayville-Volin (2-3) plays on Friday, but its opponent is to be determined. Avon (2-6) plays on Friday, but its opponent is to be determined.
