HARTFORD -- Class A No. 5 West Central ended Class A No. 1 Winner’s 49-game winning streak with a 53-43 girls basketball win on Friday.

West Central (3-0): Cassidy Siemonsma led the way with 18 points and Josslin Jarding added 13 points. Addy Kramer finished with 12 points and seven rebounds. The Trojans play Watertown on Dec. 22 in Hartford.

Winner (3-1): Kalla Bertram finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Bella Swedlund posted 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals. The Warriors play Bon Homme on Dec. 29 in Tyndall.

Hanson 57, Menno 55

HANSON -- Hanson held off Menno for a girls basketball win on Friday.

Hanson (2-1): Annalyse Weber scored 19 points, while Mekiah Campbell added nine points and 11 rebounds. Alyssa Moschell scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Andrea Thelen chipped in eight points in the win. The Beavers play Avon on Monday at the Corn Palace.

Menno (2-1): Morgan Edelman scored a game-high 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Jesse Munkvold finished with seven rebounds. The Wolves play Platte-Geddes on Dec. 28 in the Parkston Classic.

HOWARD -- McCook Central/Montrose staved off Howard’s fourth-quarter comeback to stay undefeated in girls basketball action on Friday.

McCook Central/Montrose (4-0): Madisen Koepsell recorded 11 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Ashtyn Wobig had a game-high 23 points and three steals. The Fighting Cougars travel to Tea Area on Tuesday.

Howard (1-1): Kenedy Koepsell scored 20 points for the Tigers. Abby Connor added eight points. The Tigers host Freeman on Monday.

PARKSTON -- A strong second half helped Parkston cruise past Chamberlain in girls basketball action on Friday.

Parkston (2-0): Allison Ziebart stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. Emma Yost had an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double to go with four steals and three assists for the Trojans. Brielle Bruening added six points and seven rebounds. Tiah Holzbauer and Faith Oakley both scored six points in the win. The Trojans travel to Lennox today.

Chamberlain (1-1): Emma Powers scored 13 points and grabbed eight boards for the Cubs. Jayna Handel added 12 points, three rebounds and three steals. The Cubs host Kimball/White Lake on Tuesday.

ETHAN -- Class B No. 4 Ethan rolled past Freeman Academy/Marion for a girls basketball win on Friday.

Platte-Geddes (1-2): Cadence Van Zee finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. Karly VanDerWerff logged a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Hadley Hanson scored nine points and Taryn Starr collected seven rebounds. Baleigh Nachtigal logged five steals. The Black Panthers travel to Freeman today.

Gregory (0-3): Jessy Jo VanDerWerff netted 23 points and Brooklynn Kenzy hauled in 15 rebounds. Sierra Rencountre grabbed eight boards. The Gorillas host North Central (Neb.) on Tuesday.

MOUNT VERNON -- Mount Vernon/Plankinton took down Freeman for its first boys basketball win of the season on Friday.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton (1-2): Reed Rus finished with 26 points, 13 rebounds and three steals for the Titans. Kolby Kayser added 11 points in the win. The Titans play Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Tuesday in Plankinton.

Freeman (0-4): No stats reported. The Flyers travel to Howard on Monday.

ETHAN --Freeman Academy/Marion pulled away from Ethan for a boys basketball win.

Freeman Academy/Marion (2-0): Quincy Blue poured in a game-high 23 points, while Dylan Johansen netted 10 points. The Bearcats play Tripp-Delmont/Armour on Tuesday in Freeman.

Ethan (2-2): Eric Gustafson recorded 18 points and Josh Bartscher finished with 11 points. The Rustlers play Faulkton Area in the Huron Classic on Dec. 30.
