Area basketball roundup: Sanborn Central/Woonsocket girls open season with win over Sunshine Bible Academy

MILLER – Sanborn Central/Woonsocket scored 26 first-quarter points and held Sunshine Bible Academy scoreless in the second half to earn a 63-10 victory on Saturday night.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (1-0): Trista White had a team-high 16 points, while Trinity Boschee had 11 points and Lizzie Boschee added 10 points. The Blackhawks host Hitchcock-Tulare on Dec. 14.

Sunshine Bible Academy (0-2): Jakki Burma had three points and five rebounds while Aja Paul had three points and three rebounds. The Crusaders travel to Faulkton Area on Dec. 14.

Andes Central/Dakota Christian 46, Platte-Geddes 37

PLATTE – Andes Central/Dakota Christian outscored Platte-Geddes 28 to 16 in the second half to win its first basketball game of the season on Saturday.

ACDC (1-0): Lexie VanderPol had a game-high 17 points, along with eight rebounds and five steals. Josie Brouwer added 13 points and seven rebounds while Allison Muckey had seven points and nine rebounds. The Thunder host Ethan on Dec. 14.

Platte-Geddes (0-2): Baleigh Nachtigal notched 14 points while Karly VanDerWerff had seven points and 11 rebounds. The Black Panthers host Kimball/White Lake on Dec. 14.

Ethan 54, Hanson 49

ALEXANDRIA – Ethan scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to pull away from Hanson and earn its first win of the season on Saturday.

Ethan (1-0): Hannah Bartscher had a game-high 19 points and five assists, along with Ava Lingemann posting 17 points. Maddy Bartscher chipped in and added six rebounds and five steals. The Rustlers travel to Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Dec. 14.

Hanson (1-1): Annalyse Weber had 17 points and seven rebounds while Alyssa Moschell had 15 points. Hanson travels to Menno on Dec. 17.

Corsica-Stickney 76, Colome 12

CORSICA – Corsica-Stickney scored 47 points in the first half to take a 39-point lead into halftime and cruise to its second win of the season on Saturday night.

Corsica-Stickney (2-0): Morgan Clites scored a team-high 13 points and four steals while Payton DeLange had 12 points, eight steals and four rebounds. Avery Broughton had 12 points, seven steals and five assists while Casey Tolsma and Rachel Gerlach each added 10 points. The Jaguars hosts Avon on Dec. 14.

Colome (0-2): Maura Luedke posted nine points and three steals while Katie Welker had three points and two steals. Colome hosts Bennett County on Dec. 14.

Potter County 46, Lyman 43

PRESHO – Potter County outscored Lyman in the second and fourth quarter to notch its first win of the season on the road Saturday night.

Lyman (0-1): Skyler Volmer led the Raiders with 18 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Makaylee Scott added 11 points and five rebounds while McKenzie Lavendure and Ellie Erikson posted six points each.

Menno 39, Tripp-Delmont/Armour 28 in Menno: Menno’s Bridget Voith led the Wolves with 16 points, 13 rebounds and three steals to obtain their first win of the season on Saturday. Menno (1-0) hosts Scotland on Dec. 14. Tripp-Delmont/Armour travels to Parkston on Dec. 14.

Boys basketball

Platte-Geddes 63, Andes Central/Dakota Christian 27

PLATTE – Platte-Geddes racked up 39 points in the first half and notched 20 points in the third quarter to win its season opener on Saturday night.

Platte-Geddes (1-0): Caden Foxley posted 11 points and 12 rebounds, Cade Nachtigal posted 10 points and two steals, and Dawson Hoffman added eight points. The Black Panthers host Burke on Dec. 16.

ACDC (0-1): Rizon Clark had 14 points and Nolon Black Cloud had six points. Julius Bruguier added 10 rebounds and Cameron Sybesma added seven rebounds for the Thunder. ACDC travel to Ethan on Dec. 14.

Hanson 64, Ethan 45

ALEXANDRIA – Hanson’s Ethan Cheeseman and Noah Price racked up 17 points each to lead the Beavers to a boys basketball victory on Saturday night.

Hanson (1-0): Ethan Cheeseman had 17 points and nine rebounds while Noah Price had 17 points, five rebounds and five assists. Luke Haiar added 10 points and six assists for the Beavers. Hanson hosts McCook Central/Montrose on Dec. 14.

Ethan (0-1): Kaden Klumb posted 14 points and three rebounds and Kory Storm added 10 points. The Rustlers travel to Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Dec. 14.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 58, Sunshine Bible Academy 23

MILLER – Sanborn Central/Woonsocket got off to a 18-4 first quarter lead and outscored Sunshine Bible Academy 25 to 6 in the second quarter to cruise to its first victory of the season.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (1-0): Brady Larson had 12 points and six rebounds and Tryce Slykhuis had 10 points. Jeff Boschee added nine points while Haydeb Beigh added eight points and six rebounds. The Blackhawks host Hitchcock-Tulare on Dec. 14.

Sunshine Bible Academy (0-1): Nolan Triebwasser notched a game-high 17 points, along with five rebounds while Daniel Gerbracht added six points. The Crusaders travel to Faulkton Area on Dec. 14.

Corsica-Stickney 68, Colome 34

CORSICA – Corsica-Stickney’s 43-point first half propelled the Jaguars to its first win of the season on Saturday night.

Corsica-Stickney (1-0): Tyson Wentland posted 23 points and 10 rebounds while Taven Burke had 16 points and Robert Nichols had 12 points. The Jaguars host Avon on Dec. 14.

Colome (0-2): Joseph Laprath led the Cowboys with 16 points. Colome hosts Gregory on Dec. 16.
