NEW HOLLAND -- Platte-Geddes’ fourth-quarter comeback fell short on Saturday in a 41-37 loss to Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Saturday in girls basketball action.

Andes Central/Dakota Christian (1-0): Mackenzie Muckey had a 21-point, 13-rebound double-double to go with three assists and two steals. Lexie VanderPol and Allison Muckey both scored six points in the win. Isabella Brouwer chipped in eight rebounds and three assists. The Thunder travel to Ethan on Tuesday.

Platte-Geddes (0-1): Cadence Van Zee recorded 10 points and five rebounds. Regan Hoffman and Hadley Hanson both scored 10 points, while Karly Vanderwerff added three rebounds and three assists. Baleigh Nachtigal chipped in three steals. The Black Panthers play Kimball/White Lake on Tuesday in Kimball.

ARMOUR -- Menno made a fourth-quarter comeback to take down Tripp-Delmont/Armour on Saturday in girls basketball action.

Menno (1-0): Morgan Edelman scored a team-high 23 points for the Wolves. Jesse Munkvold chipped in eight points. The Wolves travel to Scotland on Tuesday.

Tripp-Delmont/Armour (0-1): Megan Reiner finished with 13 points and four steals. Ashlee Gerber added nine points and four rebounds. Bailey Spaans added eight points and four boards in the loss. The Nighthawks play Parkston on Tuesday in Armour.

WOONSOCKET -- Sanborn Central/Woonsocket led 30-0 after the first quarter, as it notched a girls basketball win over Sunshine Bible Academy on Saturday.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (1-0): Trista White paced the Blackhawks with 17 points, six rebounds and four steals. Teya Moody added 16 points and six boards in the win. Brooke Doering chipped in nine points, six rebounds and three assists. Trinity Boschee added four steals and three assists, while Dayton Easton had a team-high five steals. The Blackhawks play Hitchcock-Tulare on Tuesday in Hitchcock.

Sunshine Bible Academy (0-2): Jakki Burman scored 11 points, while Taylor Nelson pulled down eight rebounds. Shelby Bridges added seven rebounds. The Crusaders host Faulkton Area on Tuesday.

EMERY -- Bridgewater-Emery led by 32 points at halftime, cruising to a girls basketball win over Wessington Springs on Saturday.

Bridgewater-Emery (1-0): Kerrigan Schultz scored a team-high 18 points to go with four steals. Julia Weber stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and five steals. Taylor Schallenkamp added 13 points and eight boards. The Huskies play Viborg-Hurley on Tuesday in Emery.

Wessington Springs (0-2): Alyssa Grohs scored six points and Kristie Munsen grabbed five rebounds. The Spartans play Iroquois/Doland on Tuesday in Iroquois.

COLOME -- Rachel Gerlach’s 22 points guided Class B No. 1 Corsica-Stickney to a season-opening win at Colome on Saturday in girls basketball action.

Corsica-Stickney (1-0): Gerlach finished with 22 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Raven Barse added 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Avery Broughton nearly had a triple-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and three blocks in the win. The Jaguars travel to Avon on Tuesday.

Colome (0-1): Makayla Shippy finished with 14 points. Saydee Heath chipped in six points and 10 rebounds, while Libbie Petersek added eight points. The Cowgirls play Cody-Kilgore (Neb.) on Dec. 19 in Cody, Nebraska.

ARMOUR -- Tripp-Delmont/Armour took control of the game in the second half to earn a boys basketball win over Menno on Saturday.

Tripp-Delmont/Armour (1-0): Carson Koehn scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds. Kandon Bialas chipped in eight points, seven rebounds and four steals. Logan Vanpelt added nine points in the win. The Nighthawks play Parkston on Tuesday in Armour.

Menno (0-1): Austin Pillsbury scored 11 points for the Wolves. Josh Heckenlaible added five points and 11 rebounds. The Wolves play Bridgewater-Emery on Thursday in Emery.

SALEM -- Parker had a pair of 20-point scorers in its boys basketball win over McCook Central/Montrose on Saturday.

Parker (1-0): Davin Fuller finished with 24 points and nine rebounds for the Pheasants. Carter Robertson added 22 points and five boards. Cole Jurgens chipped in eight points. The Pheasants travel to Baltic on Tuesday.

McCook Central/Montrose (0-1): Micah Van Ruler and Gavin Gordon both scored 12 points. Cody Miles dished out a team-high five assists and Kyle DeBoer added six points. The Fighting Cougars play Hanson on Tuesday in Salem.

PARKSTON -- Parkston’s fast start helped it get past Avon in boys basketball action on Saturday.

Parkston (1-0): Cole Prunty scored 14 points and Ethan Poore added 10 points and six rebounds. Brayden Jervik had nine points, seven assists and seven steals for the Trojans. The Trojans play Tripp-Delmont/Armour on Tuesday in Armour.
