WAGNER --- A two-run third inning propelled Beresford to a 2-0 win over Wagner/Avon in high school baseball action on Monday in Wagner.

Beresford managed just one hit. But scored two runs in the third when Tyler Korpuenske hit a pop fly and reached on an error by the center fielder that led two runs.

Wagner/Avon's Mato Perry pitched five strong innings, struck out eight batters, gave up no hits and issued four walks. Korpuenske threw five innings, struck out 10 batters and allowed two hits.

Wagner/Avon had four hits in the pitching battle, but left seven runners stranded on base. Tate Wynia, Ben Soukup, Kainen Blaha and Brycen Zephier each had a hit for Wagner/Avon.

Wagner/Avon (1-2) will play at Dakota Valley on Saturday.

St. Thomas More 15, Chamberlain/Kimball/Lyman 2

CHAMBERLAIN-St. Thomas More need three big innings to power its way past Chamberlain/Kimball/Lyman 15-2 on Monday in Chamberlain.

The Cavaliers scored five in the first, six in the third and four more in the fifth to down the Cubs. STM out-hit C/K/L 18-6 and it produced five extra base-hits.

Wyatt Talbot and Caden Lenz both had two hits apiece in the defeat. Ruger Forester and Marc Schwenk each had a single. Lenz and Schwenk both drove in a run.

Chamberlain/Kimball/Lyman (0-6) will play Winner/Colome today in Winner.

McCook Central/Montrose 11, Tri-Valley 1

SALEM-Kalub Carmeichael and Trevor Wilkinson each had three hits in McCook Central/Montrose's 11-1 win over Tri-Valley on Monday in Salem.

MCM plated two runs in each of the first three innings and blew the contest open with a five-run fourth inning. Wilkinson finished 3-for-3 and drove in two runs. Carmeichael also went 3-for-3 and had an RBI. Trey Anderson had MCM's other hit and record two RBI. Collin Cleveland and Kyle Tuschen both drove in a run.

Rylee Klinkhammer pitched four innings, struck out four batters, gave up two hits and allowed one earned run.

McCook Central/Montrose (3-0) will host Canton today.

Garretson 13, Hanson/Bridgewater-Emery 5

GARRETSON-Hanson/Bridgewater-Emery surrendered 10 runs in the sixth inning against Garretson and lost 13-5 in prep baseball action on Monday in Garretson.

The Ducks were clinging to a 5-3 lead, but Garretson exploded for the 10 runs in the sixth frame to put the contest out of reach.

Trent Kingsbury went 3-for-4 for the Ducks, while Sam Arend had a 2-for-4 performance at the plate. Cade Schmitt, Jonah Hofer, Thomas Arend and Trevor Olson each recorded singles. Schmitt drove in two runs, while Arend and Olson both had RBIs.

The Ducks (2-2) will Tri-Valley on Wednesday in Colton.
