PARKSTON - Nick Tadlock slugged a grand slam as part of a six-run fifth inning to help Dimock-Emery to a opening-round victory in the District 5B tournament over Mount Vernon 7-3 in Parkston Friday.
After Dimock-Emery had already scored two runs to gain their first lead, Tadlock drilled a ball to center field and cleared the bases, putting the Raptors up for good.
Phil Johnson picked up the win, throwing seven innings, while Jason Schmidt came in throw the final two innings for the Raptors. Josh Enquist added a home run and a double and Gene Kitchens had two singles in the victory.
For the Mustangs, Deric Denning was the losing pitcher. He had two hits and Matt Larson had two hits and an RBI.
Dimock-Emery (14-13) will play Alexandria in the winner's bracket semifinals at 5 p.m. Sunday in Parkston. Mount Vernon will take on the Parkston Bullheads in a 6 p.m. elimination game on Tuesday.

Parkston Mudcats 9, Corsica-Stickney 5
PARKSTON - The third-seeded Parkston Mudcats picked up a complete game from Brady Nolz and defeated Corsica-Stickney 9-5 on Friday in District 5B amateur baseball action in Parkston.
Nolz had eight strikeouts in the winning effort. Jeff Harris had three hits, including a double and scored two runs. Dan Bonte scored two runs, singled and walked three times, while James Boehmer had a double for the Mudcats.
Corsica-Stickney got two hits and two runs from Luke Bamberg and Kris Menning had two singles an RBI and scored a run. Aaron Groeneweg took the loss for the Horned Frogs, pitching five innings before Bamberg came in as a reliever.
Both teams had seven hits but Parkston had three errors and Corsica-Stickney had five miscues in the field.
The Mudcats (18-7) will take on Winner/Colome in the winner's bracket semifinals at 7 p.m. Sunday, while Corsica-Stickney (8-13) will face Platte in an elimination game at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Parkston.
District 6B
Tabor 11, Freeman 2

TABOR - Tabor picked up an opening round win over Freeman in District 6B, thanks to Doug Vanecek's 11 strikeouts in an 11-2 win Friday in Tabor.
Vanecek scattered five hits in the complete-game win. No other information was reported.
In other District 6B action, second-seeded Menno defeated Lesterville, 5-4. Tabor and Menno will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the winner's bracket semifinals, while Lesterville and Freeman will play an elimination game at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Tabor.
