ALEXANDRIA -- Jason Schimdt slugged a two-run homer and threw a three-hit shutout as Dimock-Emery blanked Mount Vernon, 3-0, in District 5B amateur baseball action on Thursday.
Schmidt’s two-run blast in the third inning gave the Raptors a 3-0 lead they would not relinquish. In the first inning, Schmidt hit an RBI single for Dimock-Emery’s other run. On the mound, Schmidt fanned 11 batters and walked three batters on 129 pitches.
Drew Kitchens had a team-high three hits, while Peyton Nash, Phil Johnson, Tyson Kayser and Sam Arend each had a hit.
For Mount Vernon, Eric Giblin, Bradley Dean and Deric Denning each had a hit. Luke Tiesler took the loss. He allowed eight hits, three earned runs, three walks and struck out five batters in his eight-inning start.
Dimock-Emery (9-10) plays Alexandria at 5 p.m. Sunday. Mount Vernon (12-7) plays on Thursday, July 29, with its opponent to be determined.

Tabor 7, Freeman 6
TABOR -- In the fifth inning, Zach Sutera’s two-run double broke a 5-5 tie and Tabor defeated Freeman in District 6B amateur baseball action on Thursday.
Sutera and Chris Sutera both finished 2-of-4 at the plate. Joey Slama, Austin White, Bryce Scieszinski, Beau Rothschadl, Sam Caba and Cole Uecker each finished with a hit. White drove in a pair of runs. Christian Uecker earned the win after allowing three hits, five runs (two earned), five walks and he struck out three batters. White struck out three batters, allowed two hits and one earned run in three relief innings.
For Freeman, Bailey Sage posted two hits and drove in four runs. Kyle Braun, Allan Scherschligt and Jonah Hofer each had a hit.
Tabor (7-10) plays Crofton (Neb.) at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the next round. Freeman’s next opponent and game date is to be determined.
