HURON — The Mitchell High School competitive cheer team picked up sixth place at the Huron Invitational Tuesday at the Huron Arena.
Mitchell scored 180 points. The cheer competition was won by Harrisburg, which had 248 points, followed by Watertown with 231, Brandon Valley with 217.5, Yankton at 202.5, Pierre at 189.5, and Mitchell at 180.
Also in action was the Mitchell competitive dance team, which was seventh out of eight teams on hand Tuesday. The Kernels scored 212.25 points, with the fourth-best score in hip-hop (221) and a score of 203.5 in the pom division.
Both teams are back in action Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Harrisburg Invitational, which begins at 10 a.m.
