The fourth annual Kernel Bowl is set to be held on Saturday, with an action-packed schedule of events beginning at 8 a.m. and running through the Mitchell High School football season opener at 7 p.m.

The Kernel Bowl 5K run/walk starts at 8 a.m. at Joe Quintal Field with a $25 entry fee, followed by a cornhole tournament at 9 a.m. Registration for the tournament is $10 for a two-person team and teams can do so by email at asparks@santel.net.

The Mitchell High School cross country invitational begins at 10 a.m. at Wild Oak Golf Course. The Little Kernel Dance Clinic also begins at 10 a.m. and runs through noon.

Tickets for the Kernel Bowl game against Douglas are available in the MHS office. Cost is $10 for adults and it includes tailgate and a meal. Students with an activity pass can pay $5 for a meal. The tailgate runs from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. and includes food, inflatables and raffles.

Skydivers will once again deliver the game ball leading into the game at 7 p.m. A fireworks show will follow the game at approximately 9:30 p.m.
