TULSA, Okla.-Chamberlain standout Nash Hutmacher remained unbeaten at the USA Wrestling Junior National Duals as freestyle competition began Friday.
Hutmacher began the day by beating Kansas Blue's Tony Caldwell by technical fall, 10-0. After winning by forfeit against Wisconsin, he beat both Louisiana's Roberto Rivera and Indiana's Robbie Gentry by technical fall, 10-0. Hutmacher won by forfeit against Arkansas.
Winner's Wyatt Turnquist went 4-1 on the day at 138 pounds. He pinned Dallas Koelzer (Kansas Blue) in 53 seconds and then outlasted Logan Hatch (Wisconsin) to win an 18-14 decision. Turnquist also beat Louisiana's Jordan Griffin and Indiana's Ethan Kaiser by technical fall, 12-2 and 21-11, respectively. Dregen Smith (Arkansas) beat Turnquist by technical fall, 14-4, in the final match.
South Dakota went 1-4 on the day, losing to Kansas Blue, 49-20, in the first match of C Pool action, to Wisconsin, 52-16 and to Louisiana, 38-31, to finish seventh. In the Green/Yellow consolation pool, South Dakota beat Indiana, 30-26, and lost to Arkansas, 46-25.
The USAW Junior National Duals finish Saturday.
