TULSA, Okla.-South Dakota did not fare well on Wednesday at the USAW Greco Roman Junior National Duals, but a pair of state champions went unblemished.
Chamberlain's Nash Hutmacher and Winner's Wyatt Turnquist each went 3-0 individually, while South Dakota was winless in Pool C duals. Hutmacher accounted for the team's lone wins in a quarterfinal loss to Minnesota Blue, 59-9. South Dakota also lost to Georgia 40-33 in the consolation semifinals and Louisiana 39-31 to finish in sixth place.
The three-time Class A 285-pound champion Hutmacher beat Minnesota Blue's Tyler Kim by technical fall, 10-0, in the first dual. He also beat Georgia's Ian Powell by technical fall, 10-0, in the second match and then pinned Louisiana's Roberto Rivera in 36 seconds.
At 138 pounds, Turnquist beat Tyler Shackle (Minnesota Blue), 12-0, by technical fall and then followed it up by pinning Georgia's Zachary Fix in 2 minutes, 9 seconds. Turnquist finished the day by beating Louisiana's Jordan Griffin by technical fall, 10-0.
