WATERTOWN-It was another successful meet for the Mitchell High School gymnastics team on Saturday as it took second at the Watertown Invitational. The Kernels scored 144.450 points, while Watertown took home the team title with 146.275. Deuel (140.025) came in third, followed by Brookings (139.525) and Madison (133.375).

Watertown also had the all-around champion in Myah Morris, who scored 38.100. Mitchell's Maria Krall (37.250) and Alyssa Hughes (36.450) finished in third and fourth, respectively. Kaylee Bauder (35.325) also notched a top-10 finish as she placed in seventh.

Krall found the most success in uneven bars, scoring 9.525 to win the event. She also finished second in floor, fourth in vault and fifth in balance beam.

Hughes finished fourth in uneven bars, fifth in vault and seventh in balance beam. Kyra Gropper earned a seventh-place finish in floor and Bauder did the same in uneven bars. Emily Moody took eighth in vault, as well.

Mitchell hosts the Mitchell triangular at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell MEGA Gymnastics Center.

Hough guides Chamberlain

RAPID CITY-Allison Hough paced Chamberlain in all four events, leading to her taking 10th in the all-around and Chamberlain finishing fifth as a team at the Gym-O-Rama meet on Saturday. The Cubs scored 116.075 points.

Hough's best finish came in beam, with her scoring 8.275 to take eighth. It led to her finishing with 31.275 in the all-around. Alyssa Allen finished second in all four events for Chamberlain.

The Cubs compete in the Deuel Invitational on Jan. 26.
