Tiger men outlasted by Briar Cliff

SIOUX CITY, Iowa—The Dakota Wesleyan University men's basketball team dropped its third game by four points or less on Wednesday at No. 8 Briar Cliff University, 94-90.

DWU pulled ahead of Briar Cliff for a 70-61 advantage on a Ty Hoglund fastbreak layup and the Tigers were clinging to an 83-81 advantage with 2:35, but four quick points by the Chargers and Eric Erdman put them back ahead.

Erdman shot 10 of 14 from the field and scored a game-high 31 points to lead Briar Cliff to a high-scoring victory.

Hoglund, who finished with 23 points, hit a 3-pointer to put DWU back ahead 86-85. Ethan Freidel answered right back with a go-ahead trey and the Chargers closed it out at the free-throw line. It was Freidel's lone 3-pointer of the game, after misfiring on his seven previous attempts.

Collin Kramer, who scored 11 points in the first half, finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. Nick Harden and Sam McCloud both tossed in 14 points apiece, while Nate Davis added 10 points. Aaron Ahmadu stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals.
