Defensive tackles Xavier Ward and Krockett Krolikowski both produced big plays in South Dakota State University's 38-28 win over Illinois State last Saturday.

Ward, a sophomore from Freeman, turned the game back in favor of the Jackrabbits during the waning moments of the first half, stripping the ball loose and recovering the fumble at the Illinois State five-yard line. One play later, Mikey Daniel scored to give SDSU a lead it would not relinquish.

Krolikowski, a redshirt freshman from Winner, recorded three tackles-one for loss-and one sack for the Jackrabbits. Krolikowski has a team-high 3.5 sacks this season.

Against Illinois State, South Dakota State turned two second-quarter turnovers into 14 points to pull away in the matchup between two top-10 ranked teams.

Mitchell grad and backup SDSU quarterback Kanin Nelson finished 1-for-1 for a two-yard completion.

Up next, the No. 7 Jackrabbits (5-2, 3-2) face Missouri State on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.
