BROOKINGS-For the second time in her career, South Dakota State University women's basketball player, and Mitchell native, Macy Miller was named The Summit League preseason player of the year.

Miller, who earns her third first-team preseason honor, was the 2017-18 Summit League player of the year, a two-time first-team All-Summit League honoree, two-time Summit League Tournament MVP and two-time Summit League All-Tournament selection.

This season, Miller will attempt to break two career scoring records-South Dakota State's and The Summit League's-and become the first women's basketball player at SDSU to score 2,000 career points.

Also, Letcher native Myah Selland was named to the All-Summit League preseason second team. After being named to The Summit League All-Newcomer team last year, Selland also earns her first preseason accolade. Despite missing eight games with an injury last season, the sophomore finished third in scoring (9.6) and averaged 5.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists while shooting 48.9 percent from the field for South Dakota State.

The Jackrabbits were also selected as the preseason favorite to win the 2018-19 Summit League title for the seventh consecutive year and the ninth time in the last 12 years. In the preseason poll, the Jackrabbits claimed 24 of 32 first-place votes and 624 points.
