DWU's Burr ends GPAC fall qualifier tied for first
VERMILLION—Dakota Wesleyan University's Jade Burr shot a two-over-par 74 on Tuesday at the Great Plains Athletic Conference women's golf fall qualifier at The Bluffs Golf Course, which was good enough to end the two-day tournament tied atop the leaderboard with Morningside's Laia Badosa.
Burr was tied for second after Monday's first round and eventually finished six-over-par for the tournament. Badosa was even-par on Tuesday after posting a 78 on Monday.
DWU placed third as a team after shooting a 325 on Tuesday at The Bluffs Golf Course, finishing with a total of 658 for the tournament.
The Tigers ended Monday in second place, and despite falling to third at the end of the second round, DWU shot eight strokes better than the previous day. Morningside ended the tournament victorious, shooting 605, which was 50 strokes better than second-place Jamestown, despite shooting a 319 on Tuesday to swap places with DWU.
Niki Nelson placed 16th, shooting a combined total of 166, while Jayden Bormann was tied for 21st, Ronae Klein was tied for 26th and Megan Hinker tied for 31st.
The final 36 holes of the tournament are scheduled to be played April 26-27 at York Country Club in York, Nebraska.
DWU men placed 10th at Grand View
POLK CITY, Iowa—The Dakota Wesleyan University men's golf team shot a 308 in the second round of the Grand View Invitational on Tuesday to finish the tournament with a score of 623, which placed 10th out of 11 teams.
Justice Morgan led the Tigers with a final total of 155 to place tied for 36th, after shooting a 79 on Tuesday. Bennett Lundy tied for 44th, Cade Carpenter and Jayden Engels tied for 48th and Nolan Wiegel tied for 52nd.
Bellevue University edged Morningside for the team title by two strokes, but Cody Holck of Morningside beat Bellevue's Andre Beccera for the individual title in a playoff.
