WATERTOWN-Eight teams gathered at Cattail Crossing Golf Course on Thursday to race in the Watertown Invitational.

The Kernel girls scored 156 points to notch a sixth-place finish, while the boys finished in eighth with 228. Brandon Valley took home the team title on the girls side and Aberdeen Central won the boys race.

Kennedy Olson's 19th-place finish in 20:35 was Mitchell's top finisher on the girls' side. Adelyn Prunty crossed the line in 21:12 to take 21st, while Annika Vermeulen (21:32), Madeline Vogel (21:35) and Tyann Hart (21:38) finished 40th through 42nd, respectively.

For the boys, Lucas Moller raced into the top 25 as his time of 18:06 put him in 23rd.

The Kernels race at the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet at 1 p.m. on Oct. 6 in Yankton.
