James Valley Christian dominates 281 meet

WESSINGTON SPRINGS—The 281 Conference meet was held in Wessington Springs on Thursday, and James Valley Christian produced champions in the boys and girls races.

The Vikings had the top-four finishers in the boys race, with Braden Held capturing the championship with a time of 18:04.04. Teammates Colton Schweigert, Daniel Ayoroa and Darian Hood followed suit, while A.J. Neely, of Wessington Springs, rounded out the top five.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket's Austin Schmit and Braxton Gentles placed 10th and 11th, respectively.

Madelynn Brantner, of James Valley Christian, was the girls champion, beating teammate Abby Hasart for the win by nearly 34 seconds. Maddie Knox, of Highmore-Harrold, AbbyKate Hamilton, of James Valley Christian, and Hannah Terkildsen, of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, completed the top five.
