SIOUX FALLS - Both high school and college cross-country runners were in action Friday at the Augustana University Twilight Meet at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls.
On the boys high school side, Sioux Falls Lincoln's Andrew Lauer edged out West Central's Braden Peters. Lauer finished in 15 minutes, 35.33 seconds, while Peters finished in 15:33.71. Freeman Academy/Marion's Thaniel Schroeder was the top area runner, finishing 14th in 16:22.31 in a field of 281 finishers.
Both Mitchell and Mitchell Christian runners were in the race. Alec Nelson finished 80th in 17:34.30 for the Golden Eagles, while Lucas Moller was the Kernels' top finisher in 183rd in 18:49.72. Mitchell Christian also had Max Reynen (19:19.94, 216th), Nathanael Anderberg (19:58.34, 246th) and Braeden Nydam (20:18.78, 254th) in the race. Derek Factor (20:52.97, 267th), Dawson Miller (21:42.00, 277th) and Carter Moller (21:49.24, 278th) rounded out Mitchell's runners.
In the girls race, Brookings' Ellie Abraham won in 18:19.68. Ethan/Parkston's Lindsey Roth finished in the top-30 and was the top area runner, taking 29th in a time of 19:59.75. For Mitchell, Tayler Factor was 109th in 21:47.91, while Tyann Hart (22:04.74, 126th), Annika Vermeulen (22:25.27, 135th) and Alexis Haiar (22:31.87, 136th) rounded out the Kernel contingent.
In the college races, the DWU women were 18th out of 25 teams. Samantha Schuyler was the top Tiger runner in a time of 20:07.66, good for 91st place in a field of 277. South Dakota's Megan Billington won the race in 17:12.50, pacing the Coyotes to the team title.
In the men's race, the Tigers did not run as a team. Brendan Langbehn was the top finisher in the 7,000-meter race, crossing the line in 24:11.14 for 121st place. Nebraska was the team winner, while Sioux Falls' Mason Phillips won the individual race in 21:14.12.
