Chamberlain girls, FAM boys capture team titles at MCM meet

SALEM—The Chamberlain girls cross-country team earned three top-15 finishes on Tuesday to win the team title at the McCook Central/Montrose meet.

Allison Hough was Chamberlain's highest finisher as she ran the 5K in 18:31.34 to take third, barely finishing ahead of Winner Area's Sidda Schuyler's time of 18:32.43. Ella Byers (19:04.01) crossed the line in fifth and Kinsey Evans (20:02.66) took 14th.

As a result, the Cubs had a team score of 20, which was eight better than second-place finisher Ethan/Parkston. That said, Ethan/Parkston's Lindsey Roth won the individual title with a time of 18:17.3.

Winner Area scored 36 to finish in fourth, Canistota, which was led by Kara Roshone's (19:43.28) ninth-place finish, took seventh, and Howard and Burke finished ninth and 10th, respectively.

In the boys race, Thaniel Schroeder, of Freeman Academy/Marion, ran past the competition to win the race by over 20 seconds in 16:07.51. He, along with sixth-place finisher Titus Roesler (16:59.49) and Luke Allison, who finished in 17:49.40 to take 16th, led Freeman Academy/Marion to the team title. Its score of 18 was the only team score under 45.

Mitchell Christian (47) was barely edged by Baltic (45) to finish in third, while Chamberlain's score of 57 was one off from a top-five finish as it took sixth.

Alex Nelson (16:51.46) was Mitchell Christian's top runner in third place, while Max Reynen (17:51.47) finished in 17th. Jackson Liewer (16:58.22), of Burke, took fourth and Chamberlain's Dominic Santiago crossed the line in 17:03.55 to take seventh.
