Angels blast Rockets in amateur baseball
WAGNER—The Alexandria Angels took care of the Wagner Rockets 13-6 in a Sunshine League amateur baseball game on Wednesday.
The Angels blew the game open with a seven-run seventh inning and Jordan Gau struck out 10 batters to earn the win.
Offensively, Cole Wenande and Jerrod Zens each drove in two runs apiece. Aaron Wenande had a hit, while Gau and Pierce Smith each drove in a run.
Gau scattered six hits and gave up two earned runs.
For Wagner, Hunter Hewitt finished with three hits. Drue Soukup, Dan Bures and Alex Kocer each had a hit. The Rockets committed eight errors.
On Tuesday in Alexandria, the Angels blanked the Salem Cubs, 6-0. Tyson Gau went 3-for-5, including a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Pierce Smith finished 2-for-3 and had two RBIs. Peyton Smith, Cole Wenande, Jordan Gau, Billy Hamilton, John Greicar and Wyatt Kayser each had a hit. Wyatt Kayser earned the win, striking out five batters, scattering five hits and allowing zero runs.
