Honkers edge Chamberlain/Kimball/Lyman in extra innings

CHAMBERLAIN — Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake/Corsica-Stickney edged Chamberlain/Kimball/Lyman 5-2 in extra innings in a prep baseball game on Thursday in Chamberlain.

Cole Nachtigal broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth inning scoring the go-ahead run on an RBI double by Trevor Sprik. Tony Slaba followed that up with a two RBI double. Payton Foxley and Chase Pheifer each recorded two hits as the Honkers finished the game with eight hits.

On the mound, Nachtigal won the game in relief of Sprik, allowing no runs on three hits in two innings pitched. Sprik gave up two unearned runs on one hit with seven strikeouts and four walks in six innings pitched.

For C/K/L, Remington Rossow had a double, while Jazz Dominguez, Wyatt Talbott and Kordel Chmela each had a hit. Talbott took the loss in relief of Cole Hickey, who gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in 7 1/3 innings pitched.

PGDCWLCS (7-1) plays Winner/Colome today in Platte.
