SALEM — In a game that featured 29 hits and 15 errors, West Central rallied past McCook Central/Montrose for a 22-12 victory in a prep baseball game on Wednesday in Salem.
MCM claimed an early 10-5 lead after four innings but West Central broke the game open with 12 runs in the top of the fifth inning.
For MCM, Raygen Randall and Bryce Smart each had three hits, while Trey Anderson added two hits. Smart finished with four RBIs and Randall had two RBIs. On the mound, Smart took the loss in relief of Rylee Klinkhammer. Smart allowed eight unearned runs on four hits with two walks in 1 2/3 innings pitched.
For West Central, Devon Garry had a triple and three RBIs.
MCM (3-7) and West Central (9-1) will play in the Region 3B tournament next week.
Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central 7, Oldham/Ramona/Rutland 6
RAMONA—Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central edged Oldham/Ramona/Rutland in prep baseball action on Wednesday.
Cooper Hainy powered WWSSC with three RBIs on two hits, while Noah Hainy had two hits and one RBI. Trey Weber, John Witte, Gunnar Brandenburg and Clayton Dornbusch all had a hit in the win. Noah Hainy earned the win, striking out two batters, allowing five hits and three runs (one earned).
WWSSC is the No. 1 seed in the Region 2B-North Division tournament. The Blackhawks play the Oldham/Ramona/Rutland vs. Wolsey/Wessington/Miller/Highmore winner on Sunday in Wessington Springs.
Dakota Valley 13, Parkston 3
NORTH SIOUX CITY — Dakota Valley scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and propelled past Parkston 13-3 in prep baseball action on Wednesday in North Sioux City.
Dawson Semmler hit a home run for Parkston, while Sutton Hohn had a hit and two RBIs. Nate Doering took the loss, allowing 10 runs off seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts in three innings pitched.
Parkston (7-3) plays in the Region 1B tournament next week.
Howard sweeps Chester/Colman-Egan/Flandreau/Elkton
CANOVA — Howard won two prep baseball games against Chester/Colman-Egan/Flandreau/Elkton on Wednesday in Canova. Howard won the first game 1-0 and took the second game 9-2.
In Game 1, Kalub Carmichael scored the game's lone run on an RBI single by Isaac Feldhaus. Mitch Kramer earned the win, giving up just one hit with four strikeouts in five innings pitched.
In Game 2, Howard broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the top of the fourth inning. Feldhaus went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Kramer added two hits and two RBIs. Colton Spader and Aidyn Feldhaus each had an RBI.
Isaac Feldhaus earned the win, allowing two runs on six hits with five strikeouts in five innings pitched.
Howard (7-5) plays in the Region 2B tournament next week.
