PLANKINTON — Mount Vernon/Plankinton downed Ethan 53-45 in prep boys basketball action on Thursday in Plankinton.

MVP (9-6): Kyle Glanzer scored a game-high 20 points, while Kaden Karst had 14 points and Dane Rihanek added 11 points. Brady Anderson pulled down nine rebounds and tossed in eight points. Up next: The Titans will play Irene-Wakonda in Mitchell on Saturday.

Ethan (9-9): Abiah Plastow scored 19 points and Brady Hawkins added 14 points. Up next: The Rustlers will play Viborg-Hurley on Saturday in Viborg.

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Hitting seven 3-pointers, John Witte scored 36 points for the hometown Spartans but Miller earned the road win Thursday.

Miller (13-3): Steven Fernholz had 30 points to pace the Rustlers, while Karst Hunter scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds. Caleb DeBoer added 10 for Miller, which shot 55 percent for the game and won its sixth game in seven tries. Up next: Miller will play Todd County on Saturday in Mission.

Wessington Springs (4-12): Witte added 13 rebounds to make the effort a double-double but the Spartans were held to 38 percent shooting. Up next: Wessington Springs will travel to Lower Brule today.

PARKSTON — Freeman edged Parkston in girls basketball action on Thursday.

Freeman (12-5): Karli Maske scored 16 points, while Ashley Glanzer tallied 11 and Josie Fuhrmann pitched in nine points. Up next: The Flyers will travel to the Warner Classic to play Highmore-Harrold on Saturday.

Parkston (6-11): Sydney Wickersham tallied 13 points for the Trojans, while Paige Semmler totaled 10 points, five rebounds and three steals. Ellie Weidenbach added eight points. Up next: Parkston will play Pine Ridge today in the DWU Classic.
