Area basketball roundup: Jaguars outlast WiLdKats in OT

STICKNEY — Corsica-Stickney had three players in double figures to power themselves to a 71-65 overtime victory over Kimball/White Lake Friday in Stickney.

Corsica-Stickney (7-1): Cordel Menning poured in 27 points with 15 rebounds for a double-double, while Bryce Plamp tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds, also for a double-double. Gavin Zomer put up 11 points. Plamp added six assists, while Menning and Zomer added five assists apiece. Up next: The Jaguars play Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Tuesday in Corsica.

KWL (6-3): Carter Fredericksen led the WiLdKats with 24 points, while Kordel Kiehn added 14 points and six rebounds. Kory Peters had five assists. Up next: KWL faces Gregory on Thursday in Gregory.

SALEM — Nine different players scored to power Sioux Valley to victory over McCook Central/Montrose in a boys basketball game Friday.

Sioux Valley (11-1): Trevor Olson scored 29 points and nailed seven 3-pointers. Trevor Hanson added 17 points, Jake Schneider tallied 10, and Ryan Schuster scored nine. Schneider and Hanson pulled down 11 boards and eight boards, respectively. Sioux Valley totaled 47 rebounds as a team. Up next: The Cossacks play Chester Area on Tuesday in Volga.

MCM (4-6): Koltan Lindstrom tallied 11 points for MCM, and Tucker Seamer led the rebounding with four. Up next: The Fighting Cougars play Flandreau on Friday in Montrose.

Jones County, White River to play for JCI title today

MURDO — Jones County notched its second victory to advance to the championship game at the 50th annual Jones County Invitational on Friday in Murdo.

Jones County defeated Stanley County 56-44 and will face White River, which beat Lyman 80-53 on Friday, in the title game at 8 p.m. today in Murdo. Stanley County and Lyman will play in the third-place game at 6:30 p.m. today.

In the consolation semifinals, Colome downed Philip 55-31 and Kadoka Area topped Bennett County 63-55. Colome and Kadoka will play in the consolation championship at 2:30 p.m., while Philip and Bennett County will faceoff in the seventh-place game at 1 p.m. today.

Girls basketball

Tripp-Delmont/Armour 52, Platte-Geddes 34

ARMOUR — Tripp-Delmont/Armour picked up a win at home over Platte-Geddes in girls basketball action Friday in Armour.

TDA (7-2): Erica Koster led the Nighthawks in scoring with 16 points, while Kianna Payer added 13. Brooklyn Brouwer totaled six assists, and Mattilynn Reiner tallied 13 rebounds and seven steals. Up next: TDA plays Dell Rapids today at the Corn Palace.

Platte-Geddes (3-6): Tori Weins scored 13 points with three steals and nine rebounds for the Black Panthers. Hailey Wagner, Maddi Miller, and Dominique Girton had three assists apiece. Up next: Platte-Geddes plays Little Wound today in Madison.

SCW (5-3): Megan Poyer poured in 18 points, while Abby Doering tossed in 14 points as 12 different Blackhawks ended up scoring in the contest. Up next: SCW plays Howard at 9 a.m. today in the Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace.
