Platte-Geddes fended off a fourth-quarter rally by Hanson as the Black Panthers earned a 45-43 win over the Beavers in the opening game of the 35th annual boys Hanson Classic on Saturday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

Riley Hoffman paced Platte-Geddes with 11 points, while Trevor Sprik added nine points and Xavier Marshall chipped in eight points. The Black Panthers went 14-of-41 from the field (34 percent), 7-of-16 from behind the arc (43 percent) and 10-of-15 from the line (66 percent) in the win.

Donnie Weber scored a game-high 18 points for Hanson, while Nathan Stewart added 10 points and seven rebounds. The Beavers made 17 of 40 field goals for 42 percent shooting and went 7-of-17 on 3-pointers (41 percent) and 2-of-6 from the line (33 percent).

Platte-Geddes won the rebounding battle 28-26 and committed 12 turnovers, while Hanson finished with 15 turnovers.

Platte-Geddes (4-4) hosts Parkston on Tuesday in Platte. Hanson (6-6) plays Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Tuesday in Woonsocket.

White River 61, Parkston 39

Justice Morrison and Donnie Yackley combined to score 39 points to pace White River to a 61-39 win over Parkston on Saturday during the Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

Morrison netted a game-high 20, including four 3-pointers. Yackley contributed 19 points, five assists and four rebounds. Nick Sayler added 13 points for White River, which jumped ahead 18-9 after the first quarter and 39-17 at halftime.

The Tigers shot 23-for-54 from the field, 9-for-27 at the 3-point line and 6-of-7 at the free throw line.

Kellan Culbert led Parkston with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Trojans shot 17-for-46 from the field, 1-for-8 from long range and 4-for-10 at the free throw line. The Trojans cut White River's lead to 43-33 late in the third quarter, but could never get it under 10.

Parkston outrebounded White River 32-30, but the Trojans committed 25 turnovers. White River had eight steals.

White River (8-3) will host Philip on Tuesday. Parkston (4-6) will Platte-Geddes on Tuesday in Platte.

Tri-Valley 57, Winner 40

Tri-Valley jumped ahead of Winner early and never looked back en route to a 57-40 win at the Hanson Classic on Saturday at the Corn Palace.

Tri-Valley, which led 16-6 after the first quarter and 26-12 at halftime, was led by Noah Jewett's 19 points. Will Steinke recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Cade Falor added 10 points, while Jayden Burggraff tossed in eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The Mustangs shot 21-for-41 from the field, 4-for-14 from the field and 11-for-20 at the free throw line. Tri-Valley outrebounded Winner 38-24.

Drew DeMers paced Winner with 21 points and Isaac Naasz added eight points. Winner shot 13-for-50 from the field, 2-for-20 from the floor and 12-for-16 at the foul line.

Tri-Valley (5-6) will play at Canton on Tuesday. Winner (6-5) will host Todd County on Tuesday.

Chester Area 66, Wolsey-Wessington 56

Chester Area handed Wolsey-Wessington its first loss of the season with a 66-56 decision on Saturday during the Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace.

The Warbirds led 45-44 after the fourth quarter, but the Flyers outscored them 22-11 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Devin Eppard led Chester with 24 points. Jesse Kreutzfeldt added 19 points and Levi DeVries scored 14. The Flyers shot 24-for-39 from the floor, 2-for-5 from 3-point range and 16-for-21 from the foul line. The Flyers outrebounded the Warbirds 32-24.

Bennett White led Wolsey-Wessington with 16 points and Austin Kemnitz scored 11. Riley Gohn had 10. The Warbirds shot 20-for-54 from the field, 6-for-19 from deep and 10-for-13 at the free throw line.

Chester Area (7-5) will play Colman-Egan on Monday in Colman. Wolsey-Wessington (9-1) will play at Sunshine Bible Academy on Tuesday in Miller.

Tea Area outscored Aberdeen Roncalli 23-11 in the fourth quarter and won by a 71-53 margin during the Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace on Saturday.

Ethan Freidel led Tea Area with 19 points and Noah Freidel tossed in 18 points. Kade Stearns scored 10 for Tea Area, which led 48-42 after the third quarter. The Titans shot 30-for-54 from the field, 6-for-21 from long range and 5-for-8 at the free throw line. The Titans outrebounded the Cavaliers 39-25, with Jake Friedrich grabbing 10 boards.

Gus Reede paced Roncalli with 24 points, including five 3-pointers. Max Reede netted 11 points and three 3-pointers off the bench. Roncalli went 15-for-49 from the floor, 9-for-28 from the 3-point line and 14-for-16 at the foul line. Roncalli committed 19 turnovers, while Tea Area had 11.

Tea Area (10-2) will play at Sioux Falls Christian on Tuesday. Aberdeen Roncalli (8-2) will host Miller on Monday in Aberdeen.

Bridgewater-Emery 46, Warner 39

Bridgewater-Emery overcame a sluggish third quarter with a strong fourth quarter and defeated Warner 46-39 during the Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace on Saturday.

The Huskies were outscored 11-4 in the third, but used a 17-6 surge in the final frame to pull out the win.

Sam Arend led Bridgewater-Emery with 14 points, while Cade Schmitt added 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Huskies shot 18-for-45 from the field, 3-for-14 from long range and 7-for-9 at the free throw line. The Huskies outrebounded the Monarchs 33-29.

Micah Hoellein paced the Monarchs with 14 points. Warner shot 13-for-45 from the floor, 3-for-17 from long range and 10-for-12 from the foul line.

Bridgewater-Emery (12-0) will host Avon on Tuesday in Bridgewater. Warner (7-4) will play Hitchcock-Tulare on Monday in Warner.

St. Thomas More 70, Sioux Valley 69

In a game that included 27 combined 3-pointers and eight players in double-figure scoring, No. 5-ranked St. Thomas More emerged with a 70-69 win at the Hanson Classic Saturday over No. 1 Sioux Valley at the Corn Palace.

Isaac Kortemeyer had 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds. Tayton Maher added 19 points, Preston Arity had 17 points and Jake Satter added 10 points in the win for the Cavaliers. STM shot 57 percent in the win, making 27 of 47 shots and 12 of 21 from 3-point range. They were 4-of-7 at the line with a 26-24 edge in rebounds over the Cossacks.

Sioux Valley was led by a game-high 22 points from Tayt Vincent. Trevor Olson had 15 points and Trevor Hanson had 14 points and nine rebounds. Max Nielson added 11 points for Sioux Valley. The Cossacks were 25-of-55 shooting for 45 percent from the field and 15 of 34 on 3-pointers. They were 4-of-4 at the free throw line and committed just five turnovers to STM's seven.

Sioux Valley led the game after each of the first three quarters, including 56-53 after three quarters before STM rallied to get in front.

STM (9-2) plays at Spearfish on Tuesday, while Sioux Valley (11-2) plays Tuesday at De Smet.
