Mitchell Post 18 was never able to get its offense rolling as Sioux Falls Post 15 West swept a Junior Legion doubleheader on Tuesday at Drake Field.

Sioux Falls jumped out to a 6-0 lead at the end of two innings and blitzed Mitchell for eight runs in a 17-0 Game 1 win, followed by a 6-3 victory in Game 2.

Mitchell managed two hits -- from Tate Ellwein and Nick Lord -- while Post 15 West racked up 20 in the Game 1 shutout win.

Sioux Falls scored two runs in the first inning of Game 2, but Mitchell was able to rebound to tie the game in the second on RBI singles from Carson Fahey and Colby Gillen. When Post 15 regained the lead in the third, Mitchell once again responded on an RBI double by Jacob Schumacher.

But when Sioux Falls recorded back-to-back singles off the bats of Jamie Legg and Camden Gadbois in the sixth, Post 18 did not have a response, resulting in the three-run loss.

Fahey went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, as Mitchell registered eight hits from six players. Ellwein allowed three earned runs on eight hits and a strikeout in defeat for Post 18.

Mitchell (12-9) competes in the Sioux Falls tournament, beginning Friday.
