PARKSTON -- Dimock/Emery and Platte stayed alive in the District 5 amateur tournament after earning wins Wednesday.

Dimock/Emery defeated Corsica/Stickney 6-1, while Platte topped Tripp-Delmont 10-3.

The Raptors got help from Phil Johnson, who had 13 strikeouts. Steven Blom was the losing pitcher, throwing 4 1/3 innings. Alex Kocer threw in relief for 3 2/3 innings.

Richard Wiese and Johnson each had two doubles in the win.

Luke Bamberg had a double and two singles and Kocer had two singles in the loss.

Dimock/Emery had six hits and two errors, while Corsica/Stickney had seven hits and three errors.

Corsica/Stickney's season ends with the loss and Dimock/Emery advances to play the Parkston Rock Bass at 8 p.m. today.

In the opening game, Platte put together a 10-hit performance to beat Tripp-Delmont, which is out of the tournament.

The winning pitcher was Audie Kuipers, who had five strikeouts in six innings. Richard Sternberg and Mike Buitenbos also threw for Platte.

The losing pitcher was Rob Johnston, and Eric DeWaard had two singles for Tripp-Delmont. Jeff Friman and Mark Reiner each had a double in the loss.

For Platte, Mike Severson had three hits, Myles Kuiper had a double and single and Buitenbos had two singles.
