SIOUX FALLS -- The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team experienced some highs and lows this past weekend.

The Tigers topped Valley City State and Waldorf College in five games on Friday, but lost both matches on Saturday, getting swept by Grand View (Iowa) University and losing 3-1 to South Dakota School of Mines.

Grand View won 25-16, 25-18 and 25-19. DWU's Meghan Cronberg had a team-high seven kills with teammate Ashley Kley adding six to go with 11 digs. Carina Fesenmaier dished out 24 assists.

SDM lost the first game 25-23, but rebounded to post wins of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-21. DWU's Andrea Johnson had nine kills with both Kley and Sarah Stahlke adding eight. Fesenmaier had 33 assists and Kley had 15 digs.

The Tigers (2-6) travel to Orange City, Iowa for their first Great Plains Athletic Conference match against Northwestern College at 7:30 p.m. today.

on Texas road trip

Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas) downed the Dakota Wesleyan men's soccer team 2-0 on Saturday for its first loss of the season. Game stats were not available.

In the second game of the trip, DWU beat Dallas Christian College 4-0 on Monday. Carlos Mora, Mason Hebert and Eric Christianson each had a goal and an assist in the win, which improved DWU's record to 2-1-1.

The Tigers play at York College (Neb.) at 3 p.m. today.

DWU continues unbeaten season

On a road trip to Kansas, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team picked up a pair of wins.

On Saturday, the Tigers downed Friends University 1-0 with Maria Gonzalez's goal in the second half. The team finished with 18 shots on goal. DWU goalie Dani Richardson stopped all four shots she faced.

Monday saw the DWU edge Kansas Wesleyan 2-1 in a game that went down to the wire. With seven minutes remaining, Ellie Peterson scored an unassisted goal to win it for the Tigers, who improved to 3-0. Kasha Roberts had her team's other goal thanks to a penalty kick, and Richardson had five saves.

DWU plays at Waldorf College at noon Saturday.

Tigers get 2nd at Siouxland Invite

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- The Dakota Wesleyan University men's golf team had a big day on Saturday, jumping from sixth place to second place, where it finished at the Siouxland Invite.

DWU shot a 304 and tied for second with Hastings College (Neb.) as both schools had 634s. Northwestern College won the tournament with a 615, led by medalist Neil Malenke's two-day total of 148.

The second-day spark was helped by Chris Pritchard, who finished second after carding a 71 in the final round and a two-day total of 150. Sophomore Travis Johnson tied for 19th with a 159.

DWU plays at the first Great Plains Athletic Conference qualifier at Dordt College (Iowa) on Sept. 13.
