RAPID CITY -- The Mitchell boys' track and field team took sixth place at the Rapid City Track-O-Rama Sunday with only four competitors.
Mitchell finished with 35 points. Rapid City Stevens won the event with 109 points and Rapid City Central took second with 74.
"It was a very competitive meet," Mitchell coach Geoff Gross said. "I was absolutely blown away with the guys' performance."
There were two sets of twins competing in Rapid City on the boys' side.
Jason and Justin Greenway each set personal bests in the 200-meter dash and the one-mile relay of the Greenways and Tyler and Turner Volesky took first.
Jason Greenway also won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 39.69 seconds.
"He would have set the new school record, but the last few hurdles were pretty hard on him," Gross said. He clipped hurdles six and seven and hit the last one hard."
In the 200-meter dash, Justin Greenway took third with a time of 22.72 and Jason took fifth at 22.96.
Justin Greenway took third in the 400-meter dash and Turner Volesky took sixth in the high jump with a mark of 6-foot-1.
In the one-mile relay, Mitchell took first with a time of 3:33.66.
"For us to take four guys out there, and to get sixth definitely made it worth the trip," Gross said.
Three girls competed for Mitchell, but only one medaled.
Jesse Volek took fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 63.56.
